Mond, Kellen Mond. License To QB
Cousins is 33....Not old, but not young. Doesn't strike me as someone who plays till 40.
Not a bad time to get someone to curate a year or 2.
My favorite among the 2nd tier QBs, but I'd be surprised if he's there at #78.
Maybe he is a target through trade down to add that 2nd round pick?
Mond is so wildly inconsistent. You'd see the low floor and high ceiling in the same quarter... Possibly series... But, I'm all for find the QBOTF, especially if it's a Day 2 pick or later.
Definitely my favorite QB prospect out of the 2nd tier guys.

Or they've just done a bunch of research on the kid and made a decision that is either yay or nay. I just keep remembering its Liars Season right now in the NFL. I'm for drafting a guy to sit the bench behind Cousins for 1.5/2 full years and that guy could be Monds. I know that you want to take advantage generally of a QB's first contract but conversely, some guys benefit from some extra baking in the oven. The NFL just wants to rush guys in and watch them implode. Maybe it time to go the Aaron Rodgers/Steve McNair mode with some kids.
I follow A&M and would take a hard pass at Mond. There are splashes, but "wildly inconsistent" seems like understating it.
If we were going to choose between Mond and Ehlenger, I like Sam better as a QB now, but I think Mond will "fit" better in the NFL. What Mond has shown in progressing the last two seasons suggests to me his ceiling is higher, Sam does what he does at a high level.
I would choose Kellen. Either will be a couple years from leading.
If they pick him, there might be a new coaching staff by the time he gets the opportunity to play. The clock is ticking on this staff. Just sayin.
Sam Ehlenger is a tremendous leader. And tough as nails. But his ceiling is backup QB in the NFL. I wouldn't bet on Mond, but his ceiling is definitely higher.

This is the modern NFL QB type the Vikings just hadn't had on their roster. Let's hope he can nail down the backup job and then maybe be a lot more in 2 years. His mobility and arm strength are key. Stands tough in the pocket. They obviously made a choice over Mills, as he was taken next. The team did a ton of due diligence on him and obviously liked what they saw to nab him with their top pick in round 3.
The fact that we now have the leverage back with Cousins is my favorite part of this pick. Honestly after this coming season Kirk will want a new deal, the team will want to avoid that 35 million if they can, but unlike last time Kirk doesn't hold all the cards. I wouldn't be scared letting Mond learn for 2 years under a guy like Cousins, but I wouldn't be scared trading Cousins away if he won't deal and grabbing a journeyman to come in and compete with Mond for the 1 spot in 2 years either.
I am not going to be complaining about this draft at all unless we don't get a kicker later today. Oh and a S, and a WR with take the top off speed but I think my targets there are all gone.
