What is your nightmare draft scenario?
History and gut feel tells me Trader Rick trades back in Round #1 to get his second round pick back. Who he might pick depends on how far he drops.
My nightmare scenario is that he stays pat in the first round and selects a non-OL. Beyond a nightmare if he does this with Slater on the board, however unlikely. That would mean no OL until round #3, absent a trade.

Guarantee he trades 2or more of these
mIssing our 14th pick cuz we are to slow to get to the podium and we slide to the 15th pick. But that would never happen. Who would ever miss there time to pick? That woukd be stupid

So it is all about the window of opportunity cap gymnastics can create. Mahomes contract gives the Chiefs an extended window; Cousins contract gives the Vikings no window.
Only because they haven't done anything with it. Vikings could've easily converted Cousins' salary to bonus and drew several million out just like the Chiefs did. Vikings chose not to, but that opportunity is there and will be again next season, either through restructure, conversion or extension. My basic point is that these big QB contracts aren't as limiting as fans think they are. And the Vikings have plenty enough talent in and around Cousins to win a Super Bowl if they improve their protection and stay healthy.

Oh my, you didn't just link Mackey and Judd, did you? I put their podcast on at the gym a few times and swore I would never listen to them again. I swear they are the biggest idiots in all of purple media. And they only get stupider when Courtney Cronin joins them. Wondering who they were and what they were about I looked into their backgrounds. One is a pro wrestling guy. That should tell you all you need to know. So I'm not sure what they're saying here, but I doubt I would be enlightened. :-)
Here's what I've found with people like Cronin, etc or 'sports journalists' her age: they are under the surface dismissive of fans. That what they are reporting on shouldn't have the importance placed on it by some fans. A little too 'cool for school' attitude, like they are above what they are talking about to some extent. Sarcastic at times. Usually planting politics into their podcasts, etc. And they are very sensitive to criticism. Anyone else get that vibe? This job of theirs is paying the bills. Giving them visibility in the media.

I didn't sense a dismissiveness of fans...at least on their podcast. They don't really engage with fans there. Maybe they do locally. To me it was more about saying stupid things. Things about the draft or contracts or the cap that just weren't true, or lacked knowledge of how those things work. Here's one: Vikings should "jump at the chance" to trade Cousins to the 49ers for Jimmy G and a 2nd round pick. :#

I'm standing in front of my locker, and I can't remember the combination. Then, my clothes start to fall off.
Wait, wrong nightmare.

Imagine, the Vikings go from having the worst guards in the league to having guard be their strength. AVT and Cleveland is a nice combo. Move O'Neill to LT, put Udoh/Hill in at RT, draft competition for them in the 4th. I have some concerns about Payton Turner, but he's exactly the kind of player we should be looking at in the 3rd. No fan of Iowa's Allergic Reaction, but whatever. Mills in the 4th is solid. Shi Smith will be the SOD.

Should be able to give us a NFL average performing OL, which is all that is needed for this team to take the next step
Make that Hill/Fisher. I'm guessing at best Fisher is available mid-October.
My nightmare draft scenario is that all of the Big 3 Tackles are gone at 14 and no one wants to trade up to 14. So we then have to settle for a guy we could get later. I am not thrilled with anyone at 14 who is not a LT and the drop off is huge after Sewell, Slater and Darrisaw. AVT looks to be an awesome Guard but 14? I think we can address Guard later in the draft even though the Guard position looks awful this year. I think there a lot of guys listed as Tackles this year that are really Guards. A guy like Christensen (BYU) in the 4th round who has similar traits to Cleveland coming out. We need a LT and Guard from this draft.

Spielman better find a good place to hide...Maybe tell Gladney to stop being a piece of trash and CB wouldnt even be a sniff in the first for us. Hope he gets the Epstein suite
