The Thrilling Finale Of Fargo!
Draft intrigue at 3-4 shifts to Fargo … With the 2021 draft now just over 10 days away and counting, the focus of NFL personnel people will be on Fargo where star North Dakota State QB Trey Lance will be the featured attraction at a special pro day event on Monday. And we probably won’t know until tomorrow exactly which teams will attend Lance’s work out; however, we know already that both San Francisco and Atlanta, which have the 3rd and 4th picks respectively, in this year’s opening round, will have full complements in Fargo.
In particular, the 49ers will be there with G.M. John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan as they try and finalize which QB they will be taking with the 3rd pick. The consensus around the league still appears to be that the 49ers will take Alabama’s Mac Jones at that spot, but San Francisco is doing a lot of due diligence for a team that supposedly has made its choice.
Meanwhile, Atlanta will have first choice at Lance if the 49ers indeed opt for Jones and the reports out of the Falcons camp is that they are still very much debating whether to take the QB themselves even if it means sits behind veteran Matt Ryan for a year or two, trade the pick to another team that needs a QB, or keep the pick and select one of this year’s stellar non-QB prospects such as Florida TE Kyle Pitts.
For the record, the NFL Network has a special ‘Path to the Draft’ scheduled for 4 PM ET Monday afternoon so they may have some coverage of Lance’s workout.
I have Trey Lance as my top QB. Crazy i know. But here's how I see it. They're ALL boom or bust. All of 'em, even Lawrence. If I'm a GM, I'd go with the most Mahomes-like QB in this draft. With apologies to Wilson, thats Lance. If he goes to a team where he'll get a year on the bench, watch out year two.

"I think you'd win a lot of games WITH Mac Jones. With the right coaching, fixing the flaws, and taking the talent to another level, Trey Lance is the quarterback that you win games BECAUSE of." pic.twitter.com/quVsFl0t5r

He won't end up in MN, but Kubiak is very high on Lance per source
Kid’s got a fucking bazooka — stronger arm than Fields or Wilson

Sure but to rate him #1 right now is just being bias. Trevor is a generational prospect that is the consensus #1 since stepping foot on the Clemson campus. It may not end up that way but no way you could rate Trey above Trevor at this time. Sadly the Vikings will have no chance to draft either I believe.

@"rf54" said:OK, to be fair, I think Lawrence will have the best rookie season among all the QBs. In fact, I think it could rival Dan Marino's rookie season as one of the best ever.@"MaroonBells" said: I have Trey Lance as my top QB. Crazy i know. But here's how I see it. And that's not what GMs should be doing either. Jax ain't going to a Super Bowl any time soon, with or without Lawrence. They should be picking the QB they think will be the best 2, 5, 10 years down the road. And they probably are. They probably think Lawrence is that QB. I'm just saying I think Lance will be that QB.
I could be wrong. Hell, I thought Heath Shuler was the best damn QB prospect I'd ever seen. But I've learned a few things since then.

I think Wilson is the best QB in this draft. He can make every throw without much effort, can read a defense, can escape the pocket and buy time, goes through progressions and hits very tight windows. Then he has that it factor! Now he is going to the Jets so it may take a few years to get them to fly to the playoffs but I think his talent will be easy to see as a rookie.
