Trent Williams gets $138M
Interesting to think about what happens if that trade with the Vikings goes through last year.
Trent Williams exact new contract number on his record-setting six year deal with the 49ers: $138.06 million.

It included $55.1 million guaranteed and a $30.1 million signing bonus.

It all starts to get stupid with contracts in the NFL. That is a TON of money.

Starts to get stupid, starts?

And we thought Bakhtiari's $100M contract was big. But neither are any more or less stupid than the Celtics signing Larry Bird to a 5-year, $25M contract way back when I was in high school. That was astronomical too. Just gotta keep it in perspective with team revenues. I don't think we'll see the Debartolos in the bread line any time soon.
I'll tell ya one thing...I'd rather pay Trent Williams $138M than Nelson Freaking Agholor $26M. Now THAT'S stupid money. Trent Williams can play....
Since Chiefs ppl are sharing Trent Williams videos... here’s his best block of 2020. It might be the best block of the season. pic.twitter.com/FSH2ypTQ3H

Isn't this a good preview of what happens if the trade for Orlando Brown goes through?
I dont think we'll have to worry about the Vikings pay top $ for an OL in FA any time soon.
Last one might have been Hutch??

I heard a rumor that Cleveland would be involved with a trade for Brown, so we would lose our promising young cheap G/T, and take on a 25 million a year guy? I liked the idea of Brown at LT for the next 5+ years, but at at that kind of money, why did they release Reiff?

Because Brown is better. And 7 years younger. Reiff has never been to a pro bowl. Brown has been in the league three years and been to two. Plus, right now he's playing on a rookie contract.

Browns just drafted a tackle in the first and gave a FA a big bag of money in FA last year. They aren't in on Brown.

I sincerely hope we don't draft Ben Cleveland.

but, is the team in the position to hand out a 20+ million a year to Brown, and likely a similar deal to ONeill? even with a new higher cap coming, will $45 million fit for only 2 OL, especially when the QB will be wanting about that by himself most likely.

Is anyone? 49ers paying Jimmy G a lot. Packers paying both Bakhtiari and Rodgers. Course Packers had to sacrifice Linsley so there's a give and take. We'll see how it shakes out. But I'd rather be playing near the cap edge than the game you play when you have $60M in cap space and are signing blue-hairs like Fitzmagic or Dalton because the QB you drafted, like Trubby or Haskins, turned out to be a bust.Keep in mind that the Vikings have zero dollars devoted to QB in 2023. 2021 will have a lot to say about what happens there. Vikings could feasibly keep playing this 2 and 3-year extension game with Cousins, keeping his cap hits relatively low. But again, that really depends on how he plays in 2021 with what should be a better OL.

Not a deal I would want RS to do.

Eh. Jason Peters played effectively into his late 30s.

True. But, he hung on for a number of years and played at a high level. Definitely a risk.

So the browns are not in on brown, but cleveland might be traded for brown and other picks.
