This is the first time I have seen Perkins in the 1st round and the first time I have seen Rondale later than the 2nd round, so that's something

Yep. We also pickup a backup Nose Tackle and a mid round TE where we're pretty much set.

Interesting draft. Love the idea of trading back and getting the Saints first. They will be shitawful next year, so that could be a very high pick. And I like Perkins more than most, but 1st round seems a little high. Love Shelvin. Yes, we have Pierce, but I'm not a big fan of the other nose tackles we have on the roster. Shelvin's a monster. Don't think we get a 3rd comp and Rondale seems very low.

I like Shelvin too, but I think we can get a good backup a bit farther down like Slaton or Tonga. Overall, it's not a bad take but all this is doing is raising my anxiety while waiting for the draft.

I don't disagree. The 2nd nose is probably a more down-draft need. Slaton in the 5th or 6th is probably a better way to do that. Just love me some Shelvin.

In this draft we trade down from 14 to 28 and only get next years first and the 28th pick??  In almost every mock draft, with trade ability, we could get a ton more.  For example, I just did one (PFF) and the Steelers wanted to move up for a QB.  We got their 24th pick, 55, 87 and next years second.  Using PFF which uses the point system everyone else does and then adds the teams desperation for a QB.

Basically I would not trade down from 14 to the bottom of the first without getting a lot more this year.

According to the trade value chart, moving from 14 to 28 is worth 440 points, which is equivalent to a mid-2nd rounder, which of course is worth a round higher the following year.

At some point the Vikings are going to have to draft a QB.

Had they listened to me last year (lol) they would’ve worked hard to trade last year’s picks to get an extra first this year. If they had, they’d have ammo to draft a QB this year (or trade for one...).

The strategy isn’t as appealing this year since next year’s QB class isn’t as touted, but I still like the idea. You can always kick the can further down the road next year.
