I thought this was going to be a ST  post,  but after looking at that list there I do find myself wondering what that boy is on.  maybe a new form of dyslexia?

I saw Matt Miller post that on Twitter, and he mentioned how Simms was one of the few people who hit on Mahomes. Then again, even a blind squirrel finds a nut here and there.

I'd be really intrigued to see what the Vikes would do if Fields or Lance falls to them, and what would happen with Cousins should they draft a QB.

well cousins is our QB for the next 2 years effective in about 2 weeks,  which is well before the draft so unless somebody blows their wad on a trade offer we are going to be stuck,  but its not like either Fields or Lance would be ready to go day one anyway so we would still need a bridge QB for at least 1 year.  with 20 million on the books for this year if we trade Cousins away its pretty unlikely they make that move this offseason,  after next year its down to 10 million so that is much more palatable.

...and everyone thought I was nuts for ranking Justin Jefferson as WR1 ahead of Lamb and Jeudy, and also had both Aiyuk and Higgins ahead of Ruggs and Reagor, and had AJ Terrell ahead of Okudah and Winfield ahead of McKinney and Delpit. Just sayin...how they actually turn out is usually WAY different than pre-draft consensus. I'm no fan of Simms, but at least he's not following groupthink.

thats not true Maroon,  thats not at all why most people think you are nuts.  B)

but yes,  its hard to get excited for all these offseason experts mocks and shit when its really just moving the same few pieces around a common board with the dexterity and range of a pawn.  so some free thinking is refreshing.

Maybe he's right, but it blows my mind that people are ranking any of the QB's ahead of Trevor Lawrence. To me, he's the best QB prospect that I have ever seen, but I'm no scout

Ok, gun to my head, just based on what I've actually seen of Wilson and Lawrence, I could see Wilson a hair better, depending on what you want. But, looking at their respective bodies of work, size, conference, etc, its Lawrence all day.

Mac Jones was practically in an NFL caliber offense, and was able to deal in almost perfect conditions.

Mond? No. NFW. Probably the most inconsistent QB I've ever seen. You don't know what you've getting quarter to quarter let alone game to game.

One thing: at this time of year, most mocks and lists get to be focused on answering: "What order will these players be drafted?" That is not the same question as, "Who will turn out to be the best?" If he's answering the second question, he might think that Lawrence is going to end up in a tougher situation to succeed than Wilson or something. I'm as baffled by his list as anyone, but sometimes there are prospects that get "popular" and climb the charts inexplicably (Blaine Gabbert comes to mind).

So  you're saying he's the next Tommy Kramer?

If Simms had Lawrence and Wilson flip flopped, I wouldn't have any issues with his rankings.  He's been pretty good at evaluating incoming rookie QBs the past couple years.

Once you get past the top 2 guys, I think you could stack the next 4 in any order you want.  It depends on how confident you are in projecting these guys into the NFL.

I do agree with where he has Fields.  I don't see it personally...  I think he has the biggest bust factor out of any of the top 4-5 guys.  Although I said the same thing about Josh Allen and Justin Herbert in past drafts so what do I know? Lol

What if he's right?  I mean as far as I can tell, every year I'm reading tons of wrong draft predictions, wrong about who goes where, wrong about how their careers turn out, wrong about who is and isn't a bust.

If the consensus conventional wisdom mattered so much then drafting would be easy instead of the nerve-wracking crapshoot that it is.  People who are mostly wrong saying oh that guy is crazy wrong ...yeah ok.

Yes and in ways I understand his rating of Trey Lance. Oozing with talent, but he has a one-year history and a lot of games against teams like Butler and Nicholls State. Feels like a developmental prospect, not sure he is vastly ahead of someone like Feleipe Franks - but his "draft reputation" is far higher.

Also from Sims, after his prior 2018 rankings:
