Watson requesting trade
Deshaun Watson hasn’t spoken to new Texans general manager Nick Caserio nor executive Jack Easterby. Watson is moving on and waiting to see where his NFL future takes him. https://t.co/heLvCjpEXu

You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it. — Robin Williams
Sources: #Texans QB Deshaun Watson has requested a trade from Houston. He has a no-trade clause, and by virtue of his contract, would decide what places would be acceptable.

Here's Houston's leverage, if used:
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) January 28, 2021
*Can fine Deshaun Watson $95,877 for missing minicamp.
*Can fine him $50,000 per day for each day of training camp missed, plus one week salary -- $620,000 -- for each preseason game missed.
*If he retires, Texans can collect $21.6 million.
Word of advice to teams: if you make a promise to someone, keep it.
Also, every team in the NFL, short maybe 3 or 4, should be interested in making an offer. This could be biggest trade in history.
Seeing this happen and looking at Houston's roster just makes you wonder if Bill O'Brien is the worst GM to ever do it. What a mess
More than half NFL teams have called about Watson.

How many can afford his contract? Houston will also want players and picks. What players will agree to go to that swamp?

This has a Hershel Walker feel to it.

I'd be willing to bet every team except the Chiefs, Seahawks, Chargers, Bengals, Packers, Bills, and Jags have called. Lol

I would bet the Jags called. why not? Watson would be the immediate upgrade and their 2 first rounders with the 1st overall first rounder this year, is worth way more than most teams would be able to offer if the price was 3 first round picks.honestly any team looking to take a first round QB this year needs to be making that call, I look at it this way, if Watson ( as he is known now) was in this draft, would TL still go #1?

Watson the prospect? No. But Watson the 25-year-old 3-time pro bowler? You'd be a fool for taking Lawrence over that. Even at his salary. Because as good as Lawrence might be, he's still unproven in the NFL.This is why so many teams are calling. This kind of player never becomes available. I don't think it's ever happened. Not on this level.

This. Why take a chance on Lawrence when you have an amazing known quantity?? Other than the compensation aspect. That is a part of it.

Yes and that sounds like a monstrous bidding war. I hope the Vikings stay out of it.

I bet we make an offer but it won't be one of the top offers. Rick probably thinks the Vikings (with Jefferson, Dalvin, etc) would be one of the most desirable destinations for Watson, and he wouldn't be wrong about that. But how do you communicate that to Watson without making the trade offer public? It would have to involve Cousins for obvious reasons. If that goes public and it doesn't go through, then you have your own pissed off QB.Maybe this: Vikings trade Cousins to 49ers for Jimmy G and a 2nd. Vikings send Jimmy G, '21 1st rounder, a '22 1st rounder, a '21 3rd, and two '21 4ths. Enough? No idea. And who knows how the salaries workout.

The Wilfs like Spielman, I get it. But he picked Ponder to be our QB, picked Bradford to be our QB (and unlike Bridgewater they can't say Bradford's health issues were a surprise), picked Cousins to be our QB, gave a dangerous extension to Cousins because he believed he was our QB through 2022. If he then says, "No, Watson is our answer at QB"...don't they reject it? I think Rick is living or dying with Cousins now.

that was my point, the jags would be stupid not to call.. like you said, known vs unknown.
Trevor Lawrence is going to be better than Deshaun, but that's just my opinion. The bidding on him is going to be wild but the Texans just came out and firmly said we aren't trading him....but we all know how that goes
Heard some radio talk jocks spouting they'd want 3-5 firsts for him. not happening you'd have nothing to put around him after the trade and rinse repeat as he whines his way out.
Just read that Houston said they want 2 first round picks, 2 second round picks, and 2 young defensive players. Cant see anyone giving up that much but that's the price
