Tyler Heineken
Very impressed. I have no idea why he did not make our team (I know about the injury) but I want to believe there is more
Oh my goodness! What a play by Heinicke! TOUCHDOWN!!!!!
Way to go Heinicke. He is playing great. He is fired up and his teammates are responding. Good for him.
TAYLOR HEINICKE TAKES IT ALL THE WAY 😱

He just orchestrated another TD scoring drive after coming out of the locker room. He is the story of the game.

I know right. It's unreal. I am happy for him. He is making the most of the opportunity.
Always liked that kid. Every time be came in he did nothing but impress. Might still be on the Vikings if it weren't for his drunken door kick thing.

His stats at Old Dominion were off the charts. I think he won 35 games, 14,959 career yards passing, over 1300 yards rushing, 67.7% completions 132 TD 39 ints.
In 2016 he was inline to be Teddy's top backup until he (Heinicke) showed up to camp in a walking boot. Heinicke had made a quick rise and a good first impression in Minnesota.
His NFL path might have looked much differently if it wasn't for the offseason door kicking thing.
Was 2016 the worst pre-season ever?

And we really haven't had a developmental QB worth talking about since then. Can't have a backup that might ever push the starter or aspire to be more than a clipboard holder.

I knew this was coming. Well, there was Heinicke and then Slater. Both never had any meaningful play time.
Let's hope one of the current two sticks around (assuming we don't draft a QB which mill make me mad ofcourse)
This is funny, really, how much hyperbole there is on this about Heinicke. C'mon now, he's a viable NFL starter now after one game?? Man the hype train in the NFL is a force of nature!

Man the hype train in the NFL is a force of nature!I font think thats what we are saying. I sure would feel better with a performancr like that compared to what I have seen from Mannion. What he did yesterday should (I hope) make someone think about giving him a look see for back up duties plus he is out of contract and would be cheap
@"mblack" said:Exactly, how much motivation to improve does Mannion give Cousins? Why is competition good for every position but QB?@"StickyBun" said: This is funny, really, how much hyperbole there is on this about Heinicke. When was the last time there was a cattle call of FA QBs after the starter has a bad week?
@"mblack" said:When has the backup QB played since Cousins has been here? The #2 QB in the NFL is one of the two usually: the heir apparent as a high draft pick or some cheap vet that is there as a safety valve and offers what exactly? I'm no Mannion fan either but does it really matter? Cousins is an Ironman at QB. How many times have we seen a backup QB play pretty well for one game? Happens all the time.@"StickyBun" said: This is funny, really, how much hyperbole there is on this about Heinicke. C'mon now, he's a viable NFL starter now after one game?? Man the hype train in the NFL is a force of nature! It reminded me of the Matt Flynn situation. Guy comes in a plays a game or two for the Packers and gets PAID by the Seahawks and then doesn't even start...granted that was because of Russell Wilson, but still
