Why is it a foregone conclusion that

1.  Hunter will be the same old Hunter if he comes back,
and
2. Hunter will be back  for the whole season if at all?   His injury was way worse than we were led to believe,  he goes and sees a specialist,  gets put on IR for the season,  and then his agent starts in with new contract demands?

maybe I have been watching to many conspiracy shows,  but I am not overly confident in Hunter being back in purple next year and if he is,  I am not convinced he will be the same guy that we saw the last few years.

Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

I don't think it is. It went from a tweak to he might be out for some time to surgery. I am not at all confident in what is happening there.

Agree with both of you.  Not counting on Hunter being back.

Also concerned about Pierce....There's "Staying in shape" then there's "football ready"

I don't think it's a foregone conclusion, but the hand-wringing and 2nd opinion was about whether or not he should rest it and play later in the year or have surgery to get it fixed. They chose surgery and it was reportedly successful, so unless he reinjures it, I don't know why he wouldn't be the same Hunter we all know and love. I guess I don't see it like a RB with an ACL or a QB with a shoulder.

I've heard these herniated disk injuries can reoccur if you try to come back too soon. But the fact that he chose surgery and IR, he has a full year to recover. That's a good thing.

Did we ever hear anything from his agent? The only thing I heard about his contract came from that tweet from Ian Rapoport, which seemed to come out of nowhere. Maybe it's happened in the past, but I'm not sure I can remember a player missing a year on IR and then demanding a new contract.

Kwity Paye is more NFL ready and a stronger run defender. Gregory Rousseau will probably wow at the combine with freakish length and athleticism, but he is a bit of a project with a higher ceiling.

The best way to help the young corners is to fix the pass rush.

If Hunter doesn't come back 100%, it will be another long year.

I’m guessing the injury gave him a scare and made him realize he needs to make money while he can.  Did anyone say how it actually happened?  Maybe liftinf weights because I don’t think there was any contact practices actually occuring at the time

It's fair to be worried about whether Hunter's neck issues will be a long term problem and I do feel that the issues on the DL were a big part of what submarined the D this season. We do have Wonnum, who has flashed some potential, but I'm not sure if you can write him in as a surefire starter yet. With that in mind bolstering the pass rush, should be a big focus this off-season. If there's a good pass rusher available at 14, either a DE or 3T, then that would be hard to pass up right now.
