If The Draft Was Held Today
Yep, add one more comp around 100 for Waynes. I don't have a sense yet for where the value is in this draft, but assuming it's not in the 100s, Vikings will likely take a few of those middle rounders and try to recoup that 2nd.

This will put some names near slots.

If we picked were these prospects are ranked, I wouldn't complain too much.
And, not that Jefferson wasn't enough compensation for Diggs, we have a 4th coming from Buffalo, plus we turned the 5th we got from them into another 4th this year when we traded with the Bears.

I say use them to move up into the 2nd and then do what you have to do to have multiple 3rd round picks. I really dont see a need for a single 6th or 7th round pick this year. Be aggressive and go get better talent
Just listened to Andy Carlson's podcast at lunch. He did a mock with the Vikings at 13, with the Vikings taking either Wyatt Davis, the OSU guard or Kwity Paye, the edge rusher from Michigan. The interesting part is that he thinks Paye could move inside in the NFL and that 3T might be his best fit. Don't quote me on that; quote him. But it's something to think about....especially considering that we could also use an edge.
Been reading that Paye could be this year's combine freak.

Interesting. Paye has good power but T-Rex arms. He'd immediately be the #1 3T. I like Hutchinson too as he has lined up all over the line.
Davis I'd happily grab at #13. Scheme diverse and probably one of the safest picks out there too.

I hope not, if we take a guard at #13 i may puke. I am not against Davis, but not at #13. we should be able to move down and get him in the 20s. I would also be doing my best to move up to 6 or 7 and get either Lance or Wilson if they are still available.
At 13 we are within striking distance for Wilson or stay put for Lance, imo. Losing that 2nd rounder really sucks now, we would likely have to give up next year's first or over pay in day 2 picks to get into the top 7 for Wilson.
I agree on 13 being to high for an OG, but if we can't find a partner to trade down we will need to find a day 1 starter there and OG is a glaring need.
Solidifying the interior OL makes Cousins better, makes Cook better, makes the D better. Definitely too high for a G that isn't Quinten Nelson, but impact wise we'll do no better. There isn't a 3T out there worthy of a first...maybe Tufele, but that's not a sure thing.
What might be more likely is an OT there, especially after trying to trade up last year for a shot at Wirfs. There's a bunch of OTs worthy of a low teens pick.
As far as the second goes, we have a ton of ammo to move up. 3 thirds and 3 fourths, depending on the comp pick.
Best overall value where we pick will most likely be CB or WR, and since we just spent two firsts last year there, I don't think we hit either spot again, save for a guy falling.

I wish they would concede that this year is a bust and start using these last few games as preseason. Try Oneill at LT, Reiff at LG, Udoh at RT. See what they have to work with. Hell flip Cleveland to LT and see of he can move outside and reverse his foot and hand work after 6 months of playing on the right. Paint ourselves a better picture of our real needs across that OL.
Waynes comp pick probably drops to a 4th since he hasn’t even taken the field...

If the Vikings beat the Jags (likely) and the Cards lose to the Rams (likely) the Vikings are in the playoffs. Obviously pending how the rest of the season plays out, but there will be no conceding, as much as we might want them to.

That's true. It's not as big a factor as salary but it does play a part. Yes, I could see that Waynes comp pick likely becoming a 4th.
@JimmyinSD Herm Edwards on line 1 for you. Should I say you're busy?
If the draft was today the Jets, Jacksonville, Washington and da Bears will probably all take QBs ahead of the Vikings.
Sorry, I hate to say this, but I think the Vikings will fall out of reach of QB #4 by the end of the season.
OL or Trask?
Lots of holes on defense too?
I think I take an athletic OT like Samuel Cosmi or Christian Darrisaw in 1st Rd.
DT Jaylen Twyman and S Paris Ford in the 3rd
QB Kellen Mond or Desmond Ridder in 4th plus an OG
Rest of the picks... load up on defense
take riddler in the third for a the future qb very athletic big arm
