Vikings initially sent 2021 second-round pick and 2022 conditional fifth-round pick to Jags. Now get most back.
A high second for a low third to rent a guy for 6 games...wtg Rick.

smh...Well let the full rebuild go then. I guess it won't quite make the worse trade the viks have ever done...lol cough cough Hershal Walker, but man that stings with where we will pick
Wow. I was just thinking today that I wouldn't be surprised if Ngakoue might not be finding Minnesota a place he wants to sign when he become a UFA. He must have made that clear to management.
WTF RICK! So it was a panic move because Hunter was toast and they knew it. And you move a high second for someone you are not gonna resign?????????F&$@!!!!!!!!

Better to cut bait now and admit the mistake. They thought they had a good team, they don't. Let's get this going and turn it around in a couple years with a new QB. Get rid of some more players and make sure they draft top 3.
i guess the tank is on. So if we end up drafting 10th lets say, what does it take to get Lawrence? First, 3 3rds, and a 2022 first and second? Jeezus

I really think they dreamed of pairing Hunter and Ngakoue, just as they dreamed Sheldon Richardson would spark the DL. IMO the mistake was that Jacksonville started hinting Ngakoue might be available, and Spielman immediately made a very high opening offer.
Takes a lot for this team to surprise me...
I am disappointed. Hunter and YN were two great pieces to have next year. That and Pierce? A good looking DL on paper.
Not happy @ all about this.
5 sacks in 6 games... he must have wanted out. Maybe the Vikings didn't wont to get into a bidding war to keep him next year?
Is this a sign that maybe more trades are on the way? Who is currently on the trade bubble? Kyle Rudolph? Anthony Harris? Anthony Barr?
Could this be the beginning of "part two" of the dismantling rebuilding process?
good get draft capital to move up if needed. this crap show is over for the season.
Not surprised by this move at all. Probably weren't going to re-sign him and they are not going anywhere this season.
How in the world did we only get a low 3rd in compensation for what is going to be a high 2nd? We got F'ed.
How do you trade a 2nd for a rental and not have a "handshake" deal done?
Time to unload Harrison Smith and Anthony Harris if you can get takers. Maybe even Riley Rief?
For the people saying-- trade more players! Well here's the list. Teams aren't calling about Kirk and Rudy. These players are actually GOOD, therefore they might have some demand. Parting with any of them is going to hurt a lot. So before everyone throws out, "sell everyone!", which of these guys do you move and what for?
And before you say, "NO WAY I'D TRADE _____________," well that's the guy other teams want. Not Bisi.

no way we were going to afford all three next year. We are already over the cap without Yannick on the books. Adding Pierce's 8 million and potentially 18 million for a franchise tag of Ngakoue wasn't going to happen

Barr has zero value in trade right now. Someone might want Rudolph but I wouldn't expect much in trade. Harris could bring a bit, but he's a UFA after this season, so most GMs (aside from ours) are careful about trading for a player not under contract beyond the current year.
I was pretty surprised when we traded for Ngakoue without having a contract extension beyond 2020 in place. That's what you hear almost universally - e.g., Bears worked out new contract extension terms with Khalil Mack before acquiring him. This is a big hit to Spielman's rep as a smart GM.
Another question to consider: what does this do to the attitude of the players remaining? Unless there were significant personality problems with Ngakoue, all the remaining Vikings have to see this as a sign that management has no confidence the season can be saved.
lol we are 1-5 and LITERALLY in 16th place in the NFC. If the players can't figure out that the season is over at this point then shame on them.
