Draft order check
Wouldn't head to head record put us in front of Atlanta?

It should be but for some reason strength of schedule is the number one determination.
In situations where teams finished the previous season with identical
records, the determination of draft position is decided by strength of
schedule — the aggregate winning percentage of a team’s opponents. The
team that played the schedule with the lowest winning percentage will be
awarded the higher pick.
If the teams have the same strength of schedule, division or
conference tiebreakers are applied. If the divisional or conference
tiebreakers are not applicable, or ties still exist between teams of
different conferences, ties will be broken the following tie-breaking
method:
- Head-to-head, if applicable
- Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games (minimum of four)
- Strength of victory in all games
- Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed in all games
- Best net points in all games
- Best net touchdowns in all games
- Coin toss
and with the weak NFC and the strong Bears/Packers teams i suppose the most we could tank for would be about where we are now.
Which in true to the Vikings historically bad luck, will put them out of contention for the top 3 QB's, and be forced to draft an OT or DT thus ignoring the perennial weak interior line yet again. lol...

I am trading down to what has to include at least their first this year ( we have to have at least 1 first rounder to show for this abysmal season) their 2nd this year, and an additional first next year. I would say if we were picking 3rd this year and dropped down to about 13 or 14 we could still get top interior OL player or top tier DT, and then have two firsts to move up for a QB for next year.
Its not ideal, but IMO its a better strategy than reaching for a project QB with almost no track record. hell a person might even get lucky and still have that project QB available at 14, and will have added that 2nd round pick to be able to grab a decent interior OL project.
If they have strong conviction for one of the top 3 qb's?
Then just do it - with both feet and all the conviction a staff with more time in the rear view mirror vs windshield can muster.

hell they should cut mannion and elevate Stanley, get him a few weeks of reps with the ones and then throw him out there... what have they got to lose?

Trade up, trade anything and everything to get Trevor.
If Trey Lance is there, take him. But a very intriguing player to take if all 3 QBs are gone and they couldn't move up is Jefferson's running mate from LSU, WR Ja'Marr Chase. Jefferson, Thielen and Chase? WOW.
Sadly and suddenly those post bye week games vs Panthers and Jaguars taking on a new meaning...
Washington is going to pick Fields out of "the" OSU after deciding Haskins was a flop? I don't buy that.
And - FLVike, I asked on another thread, but re "Trade up, trade anything and everything to get Trevor" - I think the Jets would want a Herschel Walker package to part with his rights. I think you would need to give them Hunter, Jefferson, this year's #1 and maybe more draft capital (like next year's #1). Think of the deal the Redskins gave the Rams to move up 4 spots to draft Robert Griffin 2nd overall, and plan on paying more.

has any team every really blown a wad on a player and had it work out? I dont mean the 1st and 3rd it cost the chiefs to swap picks with buffalo for Mahomes, I am talking getting crazy like the Ditka for Bush, or the RG3 deal? i dont see how any player could be worth several years worth of firsts and a few other day 2 picks.... not even Trevor Lawrence.
Fields is a completely different QB than Haskins. And he's going to be drafted before Lance. If Fields makes it out of the top 3, it'll be a shock.

Well, I remember both the Cowboys trading
up to get Tony Dorsett and the Oilers trading up to get Earl Campbell. I
think there were a lot of picks in both those cases, but I don't think
it was so many quality picks like what the Redskins paid to get RG3.

I do get that point, I just think the WTF would be really reluctant to go to an OSU QB again. Though it probably will not play out in exactly that order anyway.
