Danielle Hunter update
#Vikings coach Mike Zimmer says star DE Danielle Hunter is in New York to get a second opinion.

Hunter has not played yet this season because of a herniated disk in his neck.
You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it. — Robin Williams
Mike Hughes (neck) has been ruled out of the Texans game and Kris Boyd (hamstring) is doubtful to play. According to Mike Zimmer, DE Danielle Hunter, who has a cervical spine disc herniation, per source and remains on IR, is in New York to get a second opinion on his injury.

Sounds serious. I'll bet he doesn't play this season. Honestly, the team is 0-3 just shut Hunter down for the year.
I heard the other day (not sure where) that Hunter was probably going to be out for the season. Here's the latest:

Shut him down, this season is not going to end well for anyone, reduce the risk of further injury. He is not going to be in good shape or have any reps, that's when a player can really get hurt.
So Thomasson reported that Hunter has a disc injury, getting a second opinion and that he should take the year off. Danielle Hunter responded on Twitter with the word 'interesting'....meaning Thomasson doesn't know what he's talking about. So.....who the hell knows what's going on, lol

Second opinions typically mean that the first was too horrible to accept. Let's just pile all the shit onto 2020, set fire to it and send if off to sea....

Ugh.
Danielle Hunter's trainer has recommended the star defensive end sit out the rest of the 2020 season.

I know necks are tricky but the lack of clarity on this is concerning. I'm sure there's tons we as fans don't know, but I'd feel much better if they said, he's opted to have surgery, he'll be back in x months. Sitting out a year hoping it heals on it's own seems like a strange course of action. But I'm not a doctor, and it's not my neck.
As much as I'd like Hunter back on the field, it makes sense for him to take his time and get his neck right. Not sure if that's something that can be resolved with physical therapy or if surgery is the only option, but it makes sense to think long term with a neck injury.

So his trainer, whatever local doctor he saw, and the NYC doctor all think he should sit out the season. He should sit out the season. You don't have to be a doctor to be smart enough to listen to three doctors who agree.
Get him right. Don't risk making it worse. It shouldn't be a difficult decision.
Vikings “tankers” also strongly recommend Hunter remains on the shelf w/ the Elf... ;) B)
RE: Danielle Hunter, Zimmer said the Vikings don't have any more clarity after the 2nd opinion he got on the herniated disk in his neck and that the DE is "still kind of mulling his options." Hunter's last football practice was Aug. 14.

This should be a no brainer for all parties involved. Who gets a win out of him coming back, he's not going to put us over the top at this point. Most likely the season is going to end with an asterisk, by Thanksgiving. He's not going to be a better player for returning.
