Dru Samia, how did he grade yesterday
Was hoping to see good play from second year guard Dru Samia. Saw him get tossed to the ground twice. Did he make any plays or is he a future cut? Team does not seem to be able to draft good OL and train them up for the NFL. Is Dennison really the OL guru he was made out to be?
Horrible grade, I believe it was the worst on the team? He got owned. He's garbage and that's too bad as he was on a really good Oklahoma football team. I thought he'd be talented.
Now we know why he couldn't beat out the Elf. How can Rick and company be so bad at offensive lineman evaluation?
I heard he has been upgraded, but is still in intensive care.
I didn't see the game and probably shouldn't comment, but in the one or two highlights I saw he was terrible. Sounds like the team knew what it was doing in starting the evil elf. Don't know if Dozier was any better.
I don't know why the Vikings can't seem to get tolerable play from their guards. For the luvva David Dixon, 49ers and Chiefs dragged out rancid pig slop on their 5th and 6th teams and somehow found a way to make them play....tolerable. That's the thing...nobody's expecting greatness, just...tolerable, adequate. Goddam...gimme league below average...just something that forces the jail breakers to pause a beat before sitting on our QB.
From 2011-18, Spielman drafted 14 offensive linemen, and only 1, Brian O’Neill, had more than 1 good season. 7%. That’s just a blind squirrel finding a nut. Too early to call Bradbury or Samia but don’t get excited.
Dang...

That's not a fair fight, not even close. The DL room for the Colts will be laughing at that one for a while.
At some point we have to wonder why our O coaches can't coach some of these kids up more? It does not fall squarely on RS's shoulders - although much does.
He gets his cues from the coaching staff on traits to draft for, they gotta coach em up once they're here.
Boy, when a season goes bad, everything goes bad. But this poor OG play seems like it's plagued this team since Hutchinson retired.

Frankly, I want to see the next play to see how Dru responded to the ass kicking.
For christ's sake, NFL teams STUMBLE into serviceable OGs EVERY year via the draft....but not Minnesota. Its the least talented part of the O-line. PFF.com said Minnesota might have the worst starting guards in the league.
It's stunning how long the Vikings OL has been bad...really stunning.
A couple more rare positives for the #Vikings can be found on the offensive line:
Brian O'Neill is PFF's eighth-highest graded tackle through two games and is fifth-best in run blocking.
Garrett Bradbury is the No. 7 center in pass-blocking grade and hasn't allowed a pressure.
#Vikings OL pass-blocking grades (w/pressures allowed), per @PFF:
— Sean Borman (@SeanBormanNFL) September 21, 2020
Riley Reiff - 75.3 (0)
Dakota Dozier - 25.1 (3)
Garrett Bradbury - 77.2 (0)
Dru Samia - 22.1 (5)
Brian O’Neill - 70.1 (1)
Dozier and Samia each allowed 1 sack
Didn't see the game but this smacks of a blood in the water strategy by the defense. Why bang your head against the wall going against Reiff, Bradbury and O'Neill when there's easy pickens at guard. Get used to it Dru and DJ. Once an effective plan is written, it's there for all to follow.
Wooo! All we have to do is replace 3 starters on the offensive line and we'll be good!

Might be time to see what we have in Cleveland, Udoh, Collins.

How many years has the above quote been spoken? Pretty much all of the Zimmer era for sure and even Frazier.
This team doesn't lack tackles or a center. It doesn't lack edge rushers or a MLB.
It lacks two quality guards and two quality DTs. The two cornerstones to QB pressure, controlling the run game, and winning the game at a high percentage.
Next year's FA and draft picks must be grabbing 4-6 guys with best man winning the competition. 1 less of Pierce ever suits up.
Samia graded out worse than I did my freshman year in college in which I never went to class.
