Wow, that sucked...
Rogers had a HOF day.
I'd have to look up the last time a Zimmer D gave up 40+ at home.
We missed Diggs today too. Nobody in the passing game did s hit except Thielen.
B-R-U-T-A-L
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!
Maybe the worst defensive effort I’ve seen in the Zimmer era. ZERO pass rush and a Denny Green level effort in the secondary.
Vikes won’t win 6 games with that kind of effort.
43 points. Is that a record? If not, it's got to be up there against a Zimmer D.
It was brutal all along. Defense was there early and offense was there late.
Hey, but has KC learned to scramble???
Pack have a good team, both sides of the ball. 1 game away from the SB last year.
Ugly, ugly, ugly. Pathetic performance. Kendricks is the only one on the D that earned his pay today. Thielen and Cook were pretty much the O. Better get better quick.
Aaron Rodgers picks apart Vikings' rebuilt defense in 43-34 Packers victoryThe Packers score the most points against the Vikings since Mike Zimmer became head coach. And on a surreal Sunday afternoon, in a building where the Vikings were once able to construct their home-field advantage with the help of sensory overload, Rodgers enjoyed something Favre could have only wished for during all those years: near-total serenity in a 43-34 Packers win.
The 36-year-old quarterback operated his offense in front of only the two teams and just under 500 cardboard cutouts that fans had purchased in the west end zone, with the stadium closed to spectators for at least the first two games of the season.
Rodgers didn’t have to worry about the Vikings’ pass rush, either, with Danielle Hunter on injured reserve for at least three weeks. He wasn’t sacked, was pressured infrequently and had plenty of time overall to test a remade Vikings secondary that was trying to coalesce without the benefit of a preseason.
Sunday’s end result doesn’t figure to define a Vikings team that will be a work in progress this season. But it does represent a jarring opening to the season for a defense that had enjoyed six years of battling Rodgers to a virtual stalemate.
Green Bay hadn’t gained more than 383 yards in a single game against the Vikings; it posted 524 on Sunday, more than any team had gained against a Zimmer-led Vikings team other than the Rams’ 556-yard day in 2018.
The Packers held the ball for more than 40 minutes. Rodgers became just the fifth QB to surpass 350 passing yards against a Zimmer-led defense, with 364 and four touchdowns. And Green Bay’s 43 points (with the help of a safety on a Jaire Alexander sack) were the most the Vikings had allowed since Zimmer took over in 2014.
Rodgers spent much of the day looking for Pro Bowl receiver Davante Adams, who caught 14 passes for 156 yards and two scores, but tested the Vikings’ young corners with deep shots to Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who caught four passes for 96 yards and dropped another deep ball from Rodgers

Defense definitely played bad, but it sure didn't help when your offense does jack squat for the entire 1st half asides from the opening drive. I was tired myself just seeing the defense on the field for almost the entire half.

Lafluer and staff have better personnel to work with and they've got Zimmer's # for now.
They have yet to lose to MN since he took over.

Yeah, but Zimmer doesn't have a player criticizing his offensive approach! That's the important thing, right??
I noticed that by the end of the 3rd quarter, we had only attempted 12 passes despite trailing since halfway through the first quarter. That's close to Zimmer's 10 pass "dream game" against Atlanta last year that ticked off Diggs.
The good thing about working second shift on Saturday night: Sleeping late today, recording the game and NOT watching it :p
Good thing we only have to face Rivers, DeShaun Watson, Wilson, Prescott, Rodgers again, Brady and Brees the rest of the way or I might get pessimistic.
No pass rush, Viking's O line is still very inconsistent. Mike Hughes is a problem.
@"Vanguard83" said: absolutely ZERO pressure on Rodgers all day.Didnt look like Zimm blitzed much today either. Probably cause of the baby db's...But that is the story of the game imo.
Rogers picked em apart. GB has some nice WR's too.
Maybe we're tanking? I don't think they would be after Trevor Lawrence - hard to get #1 overall and Cousins isn't the problem - but maybe we're "Sucking for Sewell", as in Penei Sewell the Oregon OT who looks like the next Anthony Munoz.
Oh, what am I thinking - even if we had the #1 pick they would choose another CB.

Without pressure Rodgers will do that to anyone in the NFL.
Wanna cringe?
Look at the box score for:
- Kyle Rudolph 2/28/0
- ISJ 1/11/0
- Bisi Johnson 3/56/0
- J Jefferson 2/26/0
And that play call on 4th down by Kubiak? A downfield throw to WR #4?
Maybe that was KC improvising? In which case he should stop doing that.
Here's a little salt for your wound too:
It was the most points ever scored against a Zimmer team in his seven seasons as Vikings' head coach.
Vikings' new-look defense fails its first test of 2020 season in loss to PackersMINNEAPOLIS -- Six months after hitting the reset button on the defense, the Minnesota Vikings' youth movement and new defensive starters failed their first test of the season in 43-34 opening loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
The Vikings undoubtedly felt the absence of defensive end Danielle Hunter, who was placed on injured reserve last week, and it yielded a lackluster attempt at pressuring Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Minnesota's pass rush looked anemic and Rodgers looked comfortable, even with only one truly consistent receiver, Davante Adams, whom the Vikings couldn't figure out how to stop.
Describe the game in two words: Defensive obliteration. Minnesota allowed Adams to set a career high in receptions with 14 for 156 yards and two touchdowns. The Vikings' defense was gassed going into halftime after being on the field for 22:45 in the first two quarters and couldn't find the method needed to limit Rodgers up front in spite of utilizing a rotation among their defensive ends. Minnesota pressured Rodgers on just seven of 44 dropbacks, including 18 straight without registering a pressure, according to ESPN Stats & Information. Yannick Ngakoue, whom the Vikings got in a trade two weeks ago, failed to notch a single pressure in his debut. Rodgers had no issue humbling Minnesota's crop of young cornerbacks with his ability to throw to Adams for a 24-yard touchdown and to Marques Valdes-Scantling for a 45-yard TD pass that gave Vikings rookie corner Cameron Dantzler his welcome-to-the-NFL moment. Rodgers threw four touchdown passes and the Vikings' defense gave up 522 yards in their worst outing since giving up 556 yards of offense to the Los Angeles Rams in 2018.
QB breakdown: How did the Vikings' offense look without Stefon Diggs? Kirk Cousins had five passing attempts in the first half, his lowest in any first half as a starting quarterback, and all four completions were to Adam Thielen. Cousins' numbers (19-for-25 passing for 259 yards, two TDs, INT) were bolstered by a second-half comeback attempt when the Packers were ahead by multiple scores. Cousins looked comfortable only when throwing to Thielen (six catches, 110 yards, two TDs), showing how discombobulated the Vikings' passing attack was on Sunday (can someone explain throwing a 35-yard attempt to Tajae Sharpe on fourth-and-three?) and how much work the offense has to do to replace Diggs, who was traded away this offseason.

That was the worst overall play of the game, we had a chance to get back into the game. Hadn't been moving the ball and instead of just going for the first we think we are going to hit a 40 yard pass? That would be really disturbing if that is Cousins doing that, it does seem like we do that often since he has been here.
I guess Zim wanted the young corners to take their lumps today! Didn’t double team Adams at all to try & take him away, not enough extra pressure imo either, Rodgers could have knit a sweater out there! On the job training over trying to win? Horseshit way to open the season...! Rant over... :s
