"hE's ThE nExT aP"
Every time an incoming RB gets labeled that I just chuckle. Saquon the only guy even in the same stratosphere.
It'll be interesting to see where Fournette ends up and what he has left in the tank.

Realistic Landing Spot Predictions for Leonard Fournette After Surprise ReleaseFew roster cuts are truly shocking at this point in the NFL offseason. Fans are accustomed to seeing quality players hit the open market near the end of training camp, and with the 2020 cutdown deadline looming on September 5, the cuts are coming.

However, the announcement that the Jacksonville Jaguars have released Leonard Fournette was a bit of a stunner. Fournette hasn't exactly lived up to his draft status as the fourth overall pick in 2017, but he had  year left on his rookie deal and was coming off arguably the best season of his career.
The LSU product amassed 1,152 rushing yards, 522 receiving yards, 76 receptions and three touchdowns in 2019. The question now, of course, is where will the 25-year-old play next?
According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the Jaguars tried for "months" to deal Fournette but found no takers. Now that he's a free agent, however, the interest is likely to build. With factors like team need, scheme fit and cap space considered, we'll look at six of the top potential landing spots here

The coaching staff hated him in Jacksonville.

There's a lesson here for the Vikings: RBs are not a smart long-term investment. I hope they are listening.

Running back by committee is the thing in the NFL now.  No more lustrous salaries for them...

Don't agree. Fournette just wasn't a great pro RB, at least not respected nor liked by the staff. I think he has talent, but who's going to trust him for a big contract? The better lesson is don't take a RB that isn't named Adrian Peterson at #4 in round 1 of the Draft. The Vikings are most definitely going to sign Dalvin Cook, don't kid yourself into thinking anything else.

I don't really agree about Fournette lacking ability to be a great NFL RB. My intent was not to compare him with Cook, but I don't think you could convince me Cook is obviously superior. The situation in Jacksonville is ridiculous now and a player not getting along with team management there is hardly proof he can't fit in the NFL.
My point is that there is always going to be competent RB talent available and banking on one guy is dangerous. Maybe you are right they will give Cook a long-term deal, but I think that's a mistake for a player who has given them more than half a season only once in three years.

I get to a degree the RB pov; In this era of NFL, they're either good enough via platoon or even dime a dozen.

Not calling you out Jor-El, I think many purple fans underestimate how much the front office and staff values Cook.

Diggs was never the player the O was built around, Thielen either. The one time that was the case with DeFillipio.

That player is Cook.  Especially with Zimm as the old school hc.

With David Montgomery hurt (and not really looking very good last year), Fournette could end up with the Bears.

I don't doubt that the Vikings value Cook - I just question whether they really should. He was healthy about 4 games as a rookie, then limped around a lot of his 2nd and the offense could only rely on him less than half that season. Last year he was healthy and productive for 14 games, but that adds up to about 24 fully healthy games in his first 48. It's not just Cook, it's the nature of the RB position. They should not put too much reliance or money into him or any RB.

Name a RB that hasn't been injured in the last 5 years? Doesn't mean he shouldn't get paid. Think Saquon Barkley won't get paid?

Russel Wilson and Mahomes were on rookie contracts when they won their SB's. Brady, who knows what he was getting paid? Manning was well paid when he won for the time period.
