Dak Prescott to Vikings in '21?
Why indeed.
New post: Why do online oddsmakers list the #vikings among the favorites to have Dallas QB Dak Prescott on their Week 1 roster in 2021?https://t.co/ySEIDlzFRs pic.twitter.com/5lwdldm41F

Just silly. Never happen. But its publicity at a time that sports betting has ground to a slow, slow crawl.
I felt like throwing up just seeing the title. Ugh!!! Possibly the most overrated athlete in sports. Have not seen a more inaccurate passer. Also, has absolutely no leadership skills. No way would Zimmer or RS bring him anywhere near this team.
Lots of hate for Dak... I was a big fan of his coming out of college (took him in the 2nd round of the Vikefans Mock Draft) and nothing he has done in the NFL has made me move off him. He's a good young QB.
I agree with Wet. Dak does what it takes to will his team. He is a good leader and player. Yes please!

We'd be better off sticking with what we got. Continuity is king.
Isn't silly, click-bait season over yet?
I agree continuity is key - especially in this league and in this f'ed year of Covid.
I'm not sure Dak is any more clutch than KC. I suppose he's younger and certainly more mobile/athletic. But KC is hardly a consolation prize.
Y'all know he's the first qb to start 3 seasons in a row for the Vikings since Pepp...(knocks wood)
I imagine they’re just sort of handicapping teams dumb enough to overpay for someone else’s reject, not wether he’d actually end up here... ;) B)

He seems like a good dude and I think he can have a good career. I just don't see him coming to the Vikings especially if he gets a bigger deal. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens after Cousins time is up.

Meh, I don't see that, I see people questioning him the same way people question Kirk Cousins. In big games, what is he doing? Can he carry a team or does he need a nice cast of talent to succeed? I do think he is a good young QB, but what does that mean exactly? It's subjective.
I don't hate him, but the only thing he has on Cousins is youth...and not nearly enough to matter.
He's less accurate, throws more picks, only leads in a couple of tangible categories and barely in each of those...plus, he's reportedly trying to get a contract that'd make Kirk's look positively tiny in comparison.
They better be drafting the next Patrick Mahomes by then.

The way Cousins' extension is structured, he has a 2021 cap hit of $31 million... and $41 million dead money if they cut him. On top of that, his 2022 salary becomes guaranteed on the 3rd day of the 2021 league year.
So it would cost the Vikings more to cut Cousins in '21 than keep him, even before signing Dak. I suppose the Vikings could conceiveably trade Cousins then sign Dak, but their cap would still be on the hook for $20 million in signing bonus, plus the cost of signing Dak.
There's just no way for this to make any kind of financial sense.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure we can cut Cousins before the 2021 league year begins, and we incur no penalty. It's once the 2021 league year starts that we're locked in to paying him the full amount in both 2021 and 2022.
All that aside, I agree with 2 things in this thread:
Dak is a good QB and good leader.
Dak is not nearly a big enough upgrade over Kirk to pay him the contract he'll want.
Just please Vikings, draft an early-round rookie QB to groom behind Kirk. For once can we please have a backup QB who's not a slug!
Or just hang on to this guy:
So to recap, Kirk Cousins ranks...

• 1st in clean pocket grade,
• 8th in sack avoidance when pressured, and
• 2nd in passing grade outside the pocket. https://t.co/bTI8KLY83P
