Vikings 4th quarter defense

37-0 in the last 4 seasons including playoffs when leading heading into the 4th? Wow. Seriously.

A lot of good comments in this thread and like Sticky, I find myself wondering if they will ever win it. I continue to remain optimistic that we can compete with anyone and it's definitely nice being this competitive as during the AD era, I knew we didnt stand a chance to win a title. Perhaps with Kubiak on the squad for a second year this could be it? Just get into the playoffs and have a little luck come out way.

That Packers game was clearly a couple of DB's not buying into the game plan, until they figured it out.  Also remember that the refs stole a TD from us on a penalty that was only called once the entire year even when more flagrant examples existed and cost us.

I find myself asking the same thing to start games. I always know that the defense is going to clean things up in the second half, but look at the Packers game for example, a 21 point hole...that's not easy to tackle when you're on the road. I cant put my finger on the solution either...is it the other coach coming up with a strategy that Zimmer wasnt prepared for? Was Zimmer's gameplan incorrect? Was it just bad luck?

Yeah, it would be just like the Vikings to finally win a Super Bowl in what will probably be an "asterisk" season. 

Handfuls of players and staffs will miss time due to the virus and there will undoubtedly be some who will argue their season would've been different with a true home field advantage..or OTAs...or a full preseason...or...

Asterisk or not, I guarantee we would all celebrate just like it was normal. A lot of Monday's and Tuesday's will likely be used as sick days for people on this site...myself included :) 

If I remember, we are just as good in the 3rd quarter. 

The games where we are fucked is when:

A) Offense is sleeping 
B) Facing an offense we are not familiar with or a QB (back ups) aka Buffalo 18, Chicago 19

If we start out offensively well, we win most of the time

I don't know how many games of the 37 occurred in 2018 or 2019 but it'd also be true  to say Cousins hasn't given away a lead going into the 4th quarter.

Like it or not, the margin of victory is razor thin every year in the NFL.  It's why teams go from playoff/Superbowl contenders to bottom feeders in a single season.  Sure FA and the draft have a role in it, but so does the bounce of the oblong ball.  Playoff time there is even more razor thin margins of error.  A couple of bad bounces, a fumble at the wrong time, or a bad pick and you are sunk.  The moral of the story is, it takes a little luck along with talent to win a Super Bowl.  For some reason, the Vikings never seem to be on the right side of the luck coin....I certainly believe there has been the talent and the coaching to get over the hump in my lifetime, but things such as a missed field goal from a kicker who hadn't missed an ENTIRE year happens at the most inopportune time.

That was my neighbor Nancy's fault...Right before Andersen went wide left, she blurted out "he hasn't missed all year right?"

I was at a fan club in Louisville, KY.  They started chanting "Super Bowl, Super Bowl!!".  It was their fault too.
