Interesting Vikings QB stats
Or at least I think so. Not sure about the source, found it in one of the many Viking fan sites on Facebook.
Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Bradford, and Case Keenum combined for 16 TD passes of 25+ yards in 62 games.
Kirk Cousins as a Viking has 16 TD passes of 25+ yards in 31 games.
My thought - Play action helps, but losing Diggs will hurt.
That is a pretty spectacular stat. perhaps we can appreciate our QB a bit more by looking at that.
Those numbers might be why I felt like the passing attack shrunk through the back end of the season. We know the offense and Kirk can move the ball through the air - why didn't our offense nurture this and make it our identity instead of preferring to rely on dink/dunk screens and the misdirection types of plays that depend on defensive lines crashing the QB?

I'm happy to have Cousins. He's very accurate and his arm is underrated. He doesn't get hurt. He's a leader out there. He's in control of the gameplan. The guy makes plays. He's not perfect but neither is any other NFL QB. Why more of the fanbase hasn't fully accepted the guy is beyond me. I think the younger generation wants a video game Patrick Mahomes or Lamar Jackson style guy.
You'd think what he did on that last drive in overtime against New Orleans would've converted the last holdouts, but nope.

I wanna believe in Cousins, I really do... He just has to consistently play well in big games. Obviously, we need to fix the OL too and bit more imagination by the offensive coordinator.

And I agree, he is the best QB we have had in quite some time. The only issue, and I think it was more on the play calling of Stef, was when the offense couldn't run the ball, it looked like we had no idea how to adjust. Cousins would seemingly go into a shell, but again, I think the playcalling was suspect at that point.

Cousins was a stud under pressure in the earliest years of NGS tracking, which helped destroy a narrative of him being average at the absolute best. But thanks to a play-action offense built out of an emphatic rushing attack led by Dalvin Cook, Cousins doesn't face as much pressure as he once did. Even with that considered, he still lands in the top five of most under-pressure metrics. His passer rating under pressure was fifth-best, his completion percentage under pressure was fourth-best and his completion percentage above expectation while pressured was also in the top five. You won't often see Cousins' name mentioned among the Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes of the league, but he has the numbers to back it up.

this is it in a nutshell. Is he smart, talented, absolutely! Can he win in big moments? It seemed like the SF game he missed a lot of opportunities and played super fucking tight. This is the big question. Hopefully we can learn the answer sooner rather than later

Good question. And it's the same one that many teams will be answering this year. Overall there's a lot of talent on Offense, and Kubiak has been a great coordinator throughout his career, so hopefully the combination of those two helps the process.

Kirk Cousins is the Most Valuable Vikings player of the past DECADE per PFF WAR.
That's kind of insane to think after only 2 years he's graded that highly. Especially with guys like AD, Harrison, others on the team.
