I love the Redzone Channel. For me, it makes the day exciting and no commercials. Honestly, watching a full Viking's game with network commercials is maddening. If I go to a sports bar, at least you talk with other people, friends, wife, etc. during the commercials and its not so gratuitous. At home, the commercial breaks are SO conspicuous. I go to the Redzone Channel and then have to time it just right  when I click back for the game. Sucks. Its ridiculous how many commercials they jam into the game.

Rant over.

I can't seem to get into Redzone. I have to see each and every play of the Vikings game. But I agree with the commercials and 3-plus hour games. I no longer have the patience for that, either at home or at a sports bar. I tend to drink too much, eat too much. It's got to be a sprint for me.

The perfect way to watch a game is to watch the pre-game, when the game starts, hit pause, then use the nervous energy of not knowing what's happening to get things done around the house. This is the most productive time of my week. It's ridiculous what I get done in those 90 minutes. Then click play and watch the entire game in the next 90. I typically get caught up to realtime by the end of the game. It's a beautiful thing.

That's pretty damn smart, right there. I like that. I lol'd when you wrote about the 'nervous energy'....its so true. It ramps up for me every hour of Sunday morning until game time and then it hits another level. I do a lot of pacing, sitting down, standing up, etc. Any alcohol I consume during the game seems to burn off like steam as my core reactor is running warm with tension. I love it. Sunday morning anticipation is the best on game day. Getting up at 5:30 am on gameday sucks, however.  :/

I pretty much do this exact same thing.  I get busy around game time (but make sure I'm nowhere near anyone with knowledge of the game), and start watching the recorded version an hour or two into the game.  My problem is having friends and family texting me when I'm not caught up.  I have to totally ignore my phone too.
