The rule wasn't the issue. It was how it was implemented and executed on. No consistency leads to no precedence. In the end you end up with a wishy-washy rule that is enforced by a coin flip.

well a rule or law without concise instructions is a bad rule IMO,   but yes it certainly had good intent,  but like a lot of things the league does,  they dont really have a good plan behind the intent.

I would say a rule established to emphatically enforce an exception is a bad rule.  Just like the roughing the passer rule after poor Rodgers got hurt, the league is trying to appease the twitter masses.  They should have learned by now that those masses can never be appeased.  The missed call in NO was a heartbreaker for them, but then again, they had a shitload of Karma coming their way.  For a fanbase who won its superbowl on the backs of missed and ignored calls all while running an illegal bounty system to call for special treatment because a call went against them is the summation of the twittering idiots.
