You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it. — Robin Williams
Been diving into the top draft DBs & I luv @AntoineWJr11 film. Great tackler, ball savvy both in pass & run game. Not gonna wow scouts at the compression short fashion show, but whatever team makes the pick will get a stud! Oh, & excellent football pedigree! Pops was a monster!

To me, Winfield's game is so similar to Mathieu. I've been hoping that the Vikes find a way to draft him, along with a top corner as well. Imagine Zim having this kind of swiss army knife at his disposal.
I agree...AWJ might be the safest pick in the draft. And you can probably get him in the 2nd round.

I may be a Gopher Homer, but I'll say it right now... he'll be the best safety in this draft.
His game is a lot like Harrison Smith. And Smith didn't go until the end of the first round. That's probably the earliest AWJ will go, but more likely early Day 2.

I like your thinking. Zim can throw out some 3 safety looks with him, Harry & Harris, or have him play slot CB, or traditional safety, etc., etc.

@"MaroonBells" said: I agree...AWJ might be the safest pick in the draft. And you can probably get him in the 2nd round. We have a real disconnect on safeties. A guy who missed the bulk of two years can hardly be considered safe let alone the safest. Imo.
That'd be fantastic to have the Vikes draft him, but would he be worth a 1st round pick? Not sure he'd be available to the Vikes in the 2nd or later. So many holes at: OT, OG, DT, DE, CB, and now WR, it's hard to say if getting a safety this year in the first three rounds is realistic.

That means half of the 1st rounders most think are "can't miss" players--Burrows, Tua, Lamb, Jeudy, Becton, Wills, Okudah, Young, Simmons, Wills, whoever--will be disappointments at the very least. Happens every year.@"MaroonBells" said: I agree...AWJ might be the safest pick in the draft. And you can probably get him in the 2nd round. But draft history is littered with busts who had all of those things but couldn't play in the NFL. The one characteristic that almost never busts is instincts. AWJ may never be All Pro. He has size limitations, but if I were to bet my next paycheck on the player least likely to disappoint the team who drafts him, it would be AWJ.

That's fine, I just think it's really something to claim the safest player in the draft is potentially a second round pick. Safest player in the draft for me is without a doubt Chase Young.

Maybe. But don't think all 1st rounders are defacto "safe" picks. They're there because of upside and position value.

I agree that not all first rounders are safe picks, some guys are definitely reach picks. Just saying I wouldnt consider a potential second round pick as the safest even though he probably is going to be better than half the first round picks
