NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports "multiple teams" have expressed interest in acquiring Jaguars' franchise tagged DE Yannick Ngakoue.Garafolo stops short of listing which teams have reached out to the Jags' front office, but it's the Eagles, Seahawks, Packers, and Jets who have been linked to a swap this offseason. The most likely outcome remains 25-year-old Ngakoue getting dealt at some point during draft week, though the team may have to regretfully accept less than the desired haul in return. They need someone. Pierce offers even less as a pass rusher than Joseph did last year. Even if Fedi can handle Starter snaps at RDE there needs to be a rotational piece that allows him to kick inside on obvious passing downs.
I'll give up the #25 right now instead of drafting AJ or Matos-Gross.

Getting Ngaouke is going to require giving up some high draft capital, as well as a big extension. I'd rather they try their damn best to bring back Griff on a 1 year deal or so, and draft a guy like D. Taylor or someone with a similar skill set that can play some limited snaps before getting a larger role in a season.

There are ways to make it work from a cap perspective...might take some restructuring of contracts, like Barr's, Reiff's, or a long term deal with Harris...
Can we fit Cameron Wake in there on a 1 year deal? Right the wrong back in 08/09 when we had him in for a tryout and let him go.
Hunter/Fedi/Wake could be a nice rotation. Fedi starting with Wake coming in on passing downs with fresh legs. Draft a DE in the first 4 picks to develop
He is a great pass rusher, but has pretty poor PFF grades against the run. Not sure that will fly with Zimmer. Ifeadi is good at both. Instead of paying top dollar in draft picks PLUS a big contract, I would prefer we give Ifeadi more snaps and hopefully for cheap sign a FA pass rushing specialist to bring in on 3rd down and obvious passing situations, and slide Odenigbo to DT.

Oh, Im not saying it cant be done... I am just saying that I dont like what it would do cap wise, because we are already kicking enough down the road, its hard to get excited for a team knowing that its going to be harder to get better because of the future cap implications. anything they do to Barr or Reiff will have future cap affects, as would a deal with Harris, but personally I wouldnt cry to much about a deal for Harris as he is a proven commodity in this teams schemes.

lets get there first and see what that brings. We have had plenty of years that are crunched and the mantra is always "but look at next year" and then we get there and all we can afford it a plan b free agent or two and a taco bell value meal.

Recency as in what? In 2018 they were 5th lowest in dead cap space. They are currently sitting at 5th highest.

Too expensive when you consider you have to give Yannick a larger deal than what Hunter is getting which means Hunter gets extended next year at the very latest.
I would rather just sign Jadeveon Clowney and keep the draft picks.

I still have no problem with how he does things. He's working at the behest of Spielman and Zimmer who've decided on a buy now, pay later strategy. One that usually causes eventual pain. The fact that they are trying to make Brez look like the 2nd coming of Jeff Diamond doesn't mean he is.

That's exactly my point. Even Brez couldn't save Rick & Mike for overpaying for a Defense that never loved up to the investment. Kudos to him that the team still has so many good players but I don't think even he can find the space to make a run at a Tier 1 guy.
