OT: Music festival line ups
If you could have a collection of favorite artists for a music festival, who would you pick.
I would definitely choose Prince for so many reasons. He is absolutely phenomenal. I have seen him many times but he always put on a good show.
Additional options include Santana, Lenny Kravitz, Beatles, INXS, Depeche Mode and U2.
You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it. — Robin Williams
To party with . . .
A 4 band line up of INXS, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran opened by New Order
Drugs, Dance, Women, very hot women
(Young Child of the 80s)
Beatles, Stones, TP & the Heartbreakers, Fleetwood Mac, Beach Boys, Eagles, Clapton, Queen, CCR, Jackson Browne
A few more I left out -
R.E.M. , James Taylor, Simon and Garfunkel, Elvis, Temptations, Arrogance, Chicago, Springsteen, Squeeze, Dire Straits, Everly Brothers, CSNY, Byrds, BeeGees (minus the SNF stuff).
More acts to add:
Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Skrillex, Eminem, New Order, The Cure, Coldplay, The Police, Beastie Boys and Nirvana
I used to go to big summer jams at Arrowhead Stadium (back in the day, sonny!) and it usually had about 4 groups. Saw many great bands there and at Municipal Auditorium, Memorial Hall and Kemper Area.
So as a tribute to those good ol' days, I'll select 4 for a R&R concert:
Opening: Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble
Next: ZZTop
Followed by: The Who
Headliner: The Rolling Stones
For a more progressive concert:
Opening: Kansas
Next: Yes (with Rick Wakeman)
Followed by: David Bowie
Headliner: Pink Floyd
Honorable mention: Lynyrd Skynyrd
Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Rush, The Cars, The Eagles, ELO, Tom Petty.
Led Zepplin
U2
Nirvana
Alice in Chains
Soundgarden
Stone Temple Pilots
Police
Goo Goo Dolls
Zeppelin
Spoon
Bowie
Amy Winehouse
Cream
Buffalo Springfield
Nirvana
Allman Bros Band
Lana Del Rey
Smashing Pumpkins
The Strokes
Waylon/Willie and the boys

I have tickets for the Stones at US Bank for May 16th. Planned on going with a bunch of friends with a pre-concert and post concert party at a friends house in Golden Valley. Yep, got postponed.

I forgot all about The Clash too...
When I first heard The London Calling Album, my world changed forever...
Kinda like hearing Pink Floyd's Meddle for the 1st time.
Of course I would have to have Queen perform. Bob Marley, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, The Doors, Blondie and Talking Heads too.
uncle tupelo??? awesome
just saw Wilco live in Madison WI at the Sylvie. Amazing show, by far Americas best band over the last 3 decades

Saw Uncle Tupelo about 5 times. The first at the Lounge Axe in Chicago '92. In fact, I have a photo of the guys on my fridge that was taken about 5 seconds after the photo of them on their wiki page. Legends.

I'm sure I've seen various combos of UT, Son Volt, Wilco, Jeff and Jay over a dozen times. Great thing about Jeff live is that he's a great story teller. If you haven't seen him tell this story about running into Jay in Mexico, it's absolutely hysterical...
