I came across this article and I'm like, 'wtf'? How does this get to this point? I mean, nobody was protecting her or watching her? Parents of wealth just shipped her away to boarding school. Now this young lady is MESSED up. Hollywood......I mean, it's insane.

How DOES one become a "licensed" sex worker?

Is there like a written test?  Multiple choice, written or oral?
Is there a "Behind the wheel" requirement, and....is that really someone's job?

If you're caught working without a license, do they confiscate your IUD?
under what circumstances is your license revoked? (Nevermind, maybe I don't wanna know)

...so many questions...

Tennessee is a right to work state, so it's not a skilled trade and there is no apprenticeship requirements.  Not sure why the State is required to have their fingers in it.

might be more to do with their dept of health making sure those working in the industry are moitored and healthy than just wanting to really regulate it.

Mikaela is currently pursuing her sex worker license in the state of Tennessee and plans to produce and star in solo adult films. She’s not interested in having sex with another person as part of her work, having discussed that boundary with fiancé Chuck Pankow.

I'm not current on porn movie's but WTF is a solo adult film? How can you be a porn star if you're not interested in having sex with another person?

If I'm not mistaken...and Sticky you can verify this for me...I believe "solo" adult films involve a lot of...shall we say..."DIY" on the part of the participant.  Seems some folks may like that. ;)

In all honesty, she's an adult and can do what she wants "with her own body".  Most prostitutes, stunt performers, tattoo artists, and professional eaters can say the same.
But to bloviate on and on about how "empowering" it is for her or how she is "honoring her body" is pure, unadulterated new-age clap-trap. Listen, hon...you're young, got the bod and looks and are turning a trick to make a buck.  Whether with...or without another actually there...same-same.

Oh sure, yeah get pragmatic on this, but when it comes to other public health or safety issues where do you draw the line for government participation?

I am not getting anything on this,  i couldnt give 2 shits about what tennessee does regarding licensing of sex workers or not,  i was simply speculating as to why they may be taking more control here than with other occupational choices.

I was gonna say I complete agree - being an adult film star bothers me a lot less than going on like a Mike Bloomberg ad about it.

I didn't read the articles ;) but that seems an apt description for what I would expect.  Bottom line, people will say what they need to convince themselves of what they think they need.

I heard a saying once. One does not get into porn one ends up in porn. She just blew that saying out of the water. Not like this girl doesn't have options
