Rhodes made the Pro Bowl...seriously?  Kendricks should have been selected in the beginning...

Down year for CB's or they just all happen to be on the Chiefs and 49ers? ;)

WTF? I thought sure this was just another one of your funny titles. He's going to get hammered for this on Twitter, adding to what was already an embarrassing year.

But maybe it's a good thing for us...maybe it boosts his value in some artificial way. 3-time pro bowler, just 29 years old, we're not going release him, so give us a draft pick.

Alternates huh?  Feels a little underwhelming to me.

This just under-scores what a joke the pro-bowl is/has become...

Best player on the Vikings is Kendricks, our one All Pro.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins, fullback C.J. Ham, linebacker Eric Kendricks, defensive end Everson Griffen and cornerback Xavier Rhodes were officially added to the roster after four 49ers players withdrew due to the Super Bowl.
Cousins and Kendricks are injury replacements for Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner. Griffen, Ham and Rhodes are Super Bowl replacements for San Francisco’s Nick Bosa, Kyle Juszczyk and Richard Sherman.
It’s the fourth Pro Bowl for Griffen (two as alternate), third for Rhodes (one as alternate), second for Cousins (two as alternate) and first for Ham and Kendricks.
Defensive end Danielle Hunter, safety Harrison Smith and running back Dalvin Cook were initially voted onto the NFC’s roster.
The Pro Bowl is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday in Orlando (ESPN).

If Styfanski can be off interviewing before the biggest game we had all year, surely the 49rs and KC players could take some time off to play in the Pro Bowl.☹️

Eh.... could enhance his next contract which may aid the Vikes in compensatory picks. Big picture....

Seriously?

Congrats to Rhodes, but a pro bowl for his 2019 performance doesn't make sense.

Meh I understand the harsh criticism for him this year but I am of the mind that the defense (especially the secondary) has been exposed systematically for a while now. Like think second half of NFCCG agains New Orleans. Ever since that game the defense especially through the air has been suspect.

I disagree and I just don't see the stats to back up your argument.  I think there were no questions that Rhodes had a pretty awful year this season.  And it seems that he is very unstable mentally as well, so once he gets beat, he throws a fit and starts yelling at teammates, coaches, etc.  I trust Zimmer's judgement on whether or not Rhodes can be salvaged after the season that he just had.

Passing defense rank by year:

2011: 26th
2012: 24th
2013: 31st

Zimmer arrives

2014: 7th
2015: 12th
2016: 3rd
2017: 2nd
2018: 3rd
2019: 15th

We took a step back this year, but Zimmer's defenses have been VASTLY improved over what we had experienced over the previous 15 years before he arrived.  Zimmer's defenses have been top 3 in passing defense half the time he's been here and I would argue that the step back this year was in large part due to Rhodes's terrible play, as well as a multitude of injuries at the position.

Zimmer has a lot longer proven track record than does Rhodes.  Plus, even though we were 15th in passing defense this year, we were still tied for 5th in scoring defense, so I don't see Zimmer as having been figured out at all.
