Who remembers 1987?
Vikings had some talent that year. Started hot by winning the first two, then the strike hit. Replacement players come in and drop all 3. Vikings win most of the rest of their games with their starters, but lose 3 out of their last 4 games and "backed into" the playoffs.
Vikings go to New Orleans and beat the heavily favored Saints 44-10. Then onto San Francisco in a game where the spread, if I'm remembering right, broke a record of some kind? Vikings dominated that one as well. Someone, I think maybe someone on the Redskins, actually predicted the Vikings would win those games.

Sure do - it was an unexpected treat. Anthony Carter was never greater than in that postseason.
It's the last time the Vikings won two playoff games - our last actual "run"...
Great memories for sure...especially shutting up a loud mouth coworker...
AC was unbelievable those games...
That cinderella story ended in Washington if I remember correctly. The Diesel and The Hogs?

Yup, Disco Darrin failing to catch a pass that Marcus Allen would have...

You know the story behind that play right? The hero of the post-season was supposed to run a deep, corner route and drag the DB with him, freeing-up Darrin to catch that pass.
AC didnt run the route deep enough allowing the DB to knock the ball away.
A TD and xtra pt would have tied the game at the end.
I remember those games. I was dating a girl from N.O. at the time. She was sure the Saints were going to rout the Vikings. It was never much of a game. IIRC, the Vikings scored just before half time. Then on to S.F. Is that where AC caught a pass by pinning the ball against the DB's back while the DB was tackling AC? Incredible catch.

174 pounds, lol - that was a very generous listing! AC tipped the scale around 161 coming out of Michigan, and did not "bulk up" as a pro. His legs looked like they accounted for maybe 10 of those pounds, total..
Those first two games were so exciting! Hopefully Diggs become AC this year and Cook holds onto the ball in the end zone!
ac. was on. cover of. s.i. then. then the. si. course struck. the next week

yup. saw the Vikes in Anaheim beat the Rams that season. Hail Mary / Wilson to Hassan Jones to win it.

LOL...Actually, AC was ALL LEGS.....dude had no ass / torso / head
That ‘87 team was really good. The 3 games the replacements lost made them look bad as far as record goes and they kind of backed into the playoffs.
But, those playoffs were fun to watch, until that Washington game.
Funny thing about that Washington game. The night before, I got my hand smashed in a car door and had to go to the ER. I didn’t sleep all night due to some serious pain and then tried to watch the game on about 2 hrs of sleep and taking pain medication.
I hardly remember much of that game. The dropped pass is really the only memory I have of it.
Me too. I don’t really remember the game but that dropped pass I will never forget. So near.
Some 1987 perspective I thought was interesting...
Reagan is President, challenges Gorbachev to "tear down that wall."
U2's Joshua Tree released
Platoon won best picture (also the year of The Untouchables, Lethal Weapon and Crocodile Dundee)
Dow hits 2500 for the first time.
Twins win World Series

Hard to believe - over 3 decades now...
The difference was that was a young inexperienced team that had a lot of talent on the rise. I remember it well as I was in high school at the time. I also remember being devastated at the Redskins loss, could have went either way really. I think had they gone to the SB that year in 88 Minnesota would have had two championship teams in a matter of months.
This current Viking team is a little different, much of the talent is on the backside so to speak. I doubt they can pull off a run like that one did.
