Someone call Cousins/Stef
Even before the OL dam broke, Cousins looked tense... anxious... and then, finally, scared. The TV didn't show many replays of the full field, but the one that I did see showed a receiver running free down the seam. But KC dumped it off. And, yes: Cousins had time to throw. But he never even looked there. He was going to check it down, no matter what coverage he saw.
Tonight's performance was enough for me to take back every positive thing I said to defend Cousins against his detractors. Like his head coach, Cousins is playing to not lose (and hoping that someone else will carry the load so that he doesn't have to). He's a good QB... and, if everything else is going well, he can help win some games. But he can't carry a team.
That being said, Thielen dropped a long one that might've made a difference.
PS: Can't blame this one on the refs. They let 'em play... and the Packers won: fair and square.

Not sure how Zimmer gets drug into the blame here
It was another game where cousins/Stef wouldn't open up.
They had chances in the first half but cousins was off and never gave the offense a chance.
The D was great, Rhodes was all over Adams.
This game was all on the horrible playcalling, godawful offensive line play, and Cousins completely becoming a turtle again at the worst possible time, just like last year late in the season at home against Chicago with the playoffs on the line.
The defense easily played well enough to win, and only gave up that long TD run in the 4th quarter after being all the field all damn game. Sad stats: the Packers had the ball for FIFTEEN more minutes than the Vikings, and the Vikings had their fewest number of first downs at home (only 7!) since 1971.

Yup. The big run came with Barr and EK on the sidelines as well. The line couldn't handle the stunts, but in all fairness, the packers turned Smith loose once they saw Cousins wasn't gonna throw the ball. Playcalling and Cousins. It has been an issue several times this year. No idea why they didn't go to the hurry up and break out of their funk.
I can't buy the idea that Zimmer bears no responsibility for that craptastic performance. He bears all of it. His teams never show up when something meaningful is at stake. He is the coach of the whole team not just half of it. And the d has failed to show up in big games before. It's his job to have everyone ready to compete on both sides of the ball.

Zimmers the head coach and is ultimately responsible for the whole team.
Like I said, did the Kirk and the offense need a pep talk? As one player said, we are highly paid to play the game, if you need a coach to motivate you, there is a serious problem.
The game plan, Kirk's inability to throw the ball, that isn't on Zimmer. Everyone has been all over him about the D, well the D showed up. The offense didn't. Everything bad about the D this season was rectified in that game. Tight coverage, blitzes, ball hawking, punching the ball out. Rodgers was confused, the D was stopping everything.
KC and the offense looked like shit and had 1, ONE!, first down for the majority of the game.
Fans...
- When the offense plays like horse s hit we blame Zimmer
- When the offense plays great we throw roses @ Stefanski/Kubiak and give kudos to Zimmer for keeping his nose out of it
- When the defense plays great and the offense like horse turd? We blame Zimmer for the offense
Zimmer 100% deserves the blame when the team lays a colossal egg on MNF.
Using that overall dreadful performance to stick up for Zimmer because the defense played great for a half is absurd. Like @comet52 said, he coaches the whole team not half of it. There's plenty of blame to go around, the man at the top gets the lion's share.
I'm not saying he should be fired or anything like that, but that terrible game certainly didn't improve his standing in my eyes.

Remember the "Zimmer ruined Cousins" lines during cousins good run this year? Neither do I.
Yes Zimmer has to shoulder some of the blame as head coach. But with Kubiak, Stef and the offensive staff responsible for the offensive game plan, I doubt Zimmer is very involved with the offense.

Yeah, they gave up a big run late in the game, but they had been on the field the whole game and it was apparent that KC and the sunshine band weren't gonna contribute on the other side.

Zimmer is traaash brother.
Wilson and Brothers are veteran all pro run stopping linebackers!---
honestly, I loved the way our defense showed up too. Very passionate, very aggressive... I noticed those "boxes" being check myself and just... don't get why our offense was so hopeless. Our offense should have had us in a better position with the score to deal with those loses on defense. Green Bay pulling away with the lead, winning the TOP battle with the game ending... that's just some shit luck when it comes to having to roll out an entire new 2nd level of your defense.
Inexperienced linebackers have been picking the wrong gaps longer than i've been alive...

Yeah the D played well... and the O played bad!
You're blaming other people for picking and choosing when they rag on Zimmer, while you pick and choose what you give him responsibility for.
He's the head coach. We got crushed at home. We lost the division. We got swept by our rival. He takes the blame. But I also said above that I don't want him fired. The team has a good record and he deserves another year. I'm giving him credit. I'm giving him blame. Because he's the head coach. That's my point.
And the Academy Award for the worst performance by a QB and OC goes to............... I honestly do not think I have ever seen a bigger choke job by a QB or OC. It was unbelievable and the defense was giving them one opportunity after another to get their act together and they did absolutely nothing. It was an absolute pathetic performance and I just don't see either of those two ever getting it done.
