When I was a young child, my Mom usually put on Nat King Cole. The Christmas song and O Holy Night by him are my favorites.

its 1943, the world is at war in Europe and the Pacific. Soldiers far from home fighting to preserve our freedom and liberty.

Bing Crosby writes a Christmas song from the perspective of a soldier... 

When I hear it, I think of those soldiers hunkered down in the mud, or fighting their way across Atolls in the Pacific, dreaming of being home with their families...
For those who never made it home for Christmas.....
