He has talent. Generally someone is willing to ignore the risks. However, these are big risks and he gambled much more than the previous player in question. This is a habitual issue that will be tough to break. And to be your QB, personally I don’t see the Wilfs signing off on this risk or Teasley willing to bank his GM career on him. It would be a flashy early move, I just think this isn’t the year to take the risk. I also think he goes later than the current projects. 3rd or 4th round.

You absolutely 100% have to consider this guy if you don't have a solid QB1. He's a 1st round talent.....and when did the NFL ever turn away from talented players? That's rhetorical. This isn't Art Schlichter.....those comparisons are way off. If Schlichter were a drug addict instead of a gambling addict, he'd have died YEARS ago. He's one of the most hardcore, degenerate gambling addicts in modern memory. The GOAT. Sorsby is an excellent prospect but its of course risky. Unless there is some big time underground info on him that NFL teams are aware of, he's going to be taken in round 2 or 3 IMO. Guaranteed there will be high level background checks and due diligence.

It's definitely unlikely. The timing isn't right, the numbers aren't right, and do you really want to add MORE drama to this QB room? And then there's the gambling thing. Drafting Sorsby is itself a gamble. I think the odds are in the single digits, but they aren't zero.

I will guarantee you this: Teasley, KOC and the Vikings scouting staff is studying Sorsby's film right now to determine where they stand. What if they fall in love? The Rams, everyone's Super Bowl favorite, with just a few holes to fill, chose to spend a 13th overall pick on a QB who will not help that team one iota this year. Don't underestimate what a team might be willing to do for the right QB....especially a new GM.

The new GM who has been part of a team that made bold QB moves before.

One interesting nugget is that if a team bids a 1st rounder, they do not get the 5th year option like they would if he were taken in the 1st round of a regular draft.

He has. However most GM's in a QB are looking for talent and character. Sorsby is not the perfect QB. Mid to late 1st -second round is where I would put him with no gambling or character concerns. The gambling completely puts in question his character. So is Tinsley willing to use a 1st or 2nd rounder on him, and if Sorsby bets again it falls fulling on Tinsley shoulders. Not only do you have the risk of the QB not performing, you have the risk of the QB self sabotaging due to an addiction. No one could kid Gordon to stop smoking weed. I personally think the risk is too much unless you get a flyer on him effectively.

The issue is precedent.

  1. Kayshon Boutte gambled just as much as Sorsby and on his own teams. He was drafted in the 2023 draft in the 6th round and received zero punishment.

  2. Hunter Dekkers also gambled although not as much as Boutte or Sorsby. He went as a UDFA in the 2025 draft and received zero punishment.

Not sure this guy is the answer buuuuut I think Teasley will make some type of move at QB sometime in the next year. Not sure Murray or JJM are long term answer if your chasing a Lombardi.

We have a saying in the horse world...every horse you might wanna buy has a hole, some are not so obvious.

So if you know a horse has a hole (some kind of deficiency for the job you want it to do), you just don't even consider it. As one old cowboy said "you gotta be crazy to buy a horse if you KNOW it's got a hole"

Sorry, but someone with any kind of compulsive gambling habit has an OBVIOUS hole.

Not a freakin' chance.

Please God, just one Lombardi before I die.
