It's football. You want your players to be tough and physical and I'm cool with guys riding the line. Obviously if he's Vontaze Burfict who was just a psycho out there with dirty hits, not a fan. But Thomas doesn't seem like that. I don't want guys playing soft, safe football especially on defense.

I doubt any of us have seen enough of him to know what weve got at this point. I just want smart football players. The league has mandated away much of the physicality of the game, brains and instincts are much better traits than punishing hits in today's NFL.

Not sure I'd even want to. Again, I think it's probably harder to coax aggressiveness out of a naturally timid player than it is to teach an aggressive player to play smart. I don't care how big his jimmy was, Matt Kalil was the poster boy for playing soft, and no amount of coaching was able to correct that.

kalil was lack of heart, he didnt want to be a football player. you can have heart and still play smart and hit hard. I am not saying Thomas is going to be a problem, but that thug mentality is not good for todays game. Maybe it was a heated moment and all we saw was the response, I dont know Thomas's game and only really watched him in that championship game where he took that cheap shot on mendoza, but if it fits a pattern all this tough guy shit isnt going to end well with todays rules. I do suspect that the miami D was coached to take liberties as I did notice a trend in the few games I did watch of them and as a unit they were pretty prone to taking marginal hits after the whistle, or unnecessary roughness as the rules like to call it. sometimes you get away with it, other times you dont, and its those times that can make the difference between a W and an L.
