Reality Bites
#1
This O-Line still isn't ready for prime time. No holes for Cook, shoddy pass blocking against a Defense that scares nobody.  Kirk was inconsistent.  So was Stefanski.

So lean on that Defense. Great play by Weatherly followed by rushing 3 on 2nd and Long and still couldn't double Kelce. Left Waynes to consistently get beat by Hill with no adjustments. Played a lot of zone and still gave up like 5 chunk plays. Zimmer now 0-2 against backup QBs this year.

Well, there's always the Special Teams with the player of the week, who missed an extra point. Sigh.

Team loss. Coaches, Players, all 3 Units.  I'm not seeing a team that can win on the road in the Playoffs. Didn't expect the Defense to get a stop for even 1 second despite the sack. Expected the 3 & Out on Offense. Expected the team to lose momentum in the 3rd instead of stretching the lead. It's just who've they've always been during this regime.

Chiefs had lost 3 in a row at home because teams were playing Man and doubling their only 2 weapons and because teams were running all over them and keeping that Offense on the sideline. Minnesota couldn't follow that blueprint that lesser teams employed successfully. That leads me to believe they were either outcoached or aren't as good as I thought.  Or maybe both.

Just not seeing more than 1 & done as the ceiling at this point

Its a good team.

That will lose to a good team in the playoffs.

Mahomes sits and rests. AT plays and will have nagging injury all year.

Bravo.

KC sucked.  edit:  The qb, not the team.

Don't blame this on Cousins, he's not the reason they lost. Wasn't his best game but he threw for 3 TDs and zero interceptions.

This is all on the coaching staff and D.....and the offensive line.

Zimmer got out coached today.

It's just kind of a "meh" team in some ways.  Competitive, but needs some luck to win at times.  If that sack ball bounced right might have been 30-23 Vikes but reality does bite.   This team is good, not great and coaching is ok but again not great.    I totally agree, one and done, assuming they can actually get the wild card which isn't guaranteed.

The saddest part is that nobody looks unbeatable in the NFC. GB leads the League in plays given up over 40 yards. The Saints have won a lot of close games.  The 9ers haven't beat a good team yet. The Cowboys are, well, the Cowboys.

But I don't see enough consistency in any single part of the team that leads me to believe they could beat any of those teams on the road in the postseason.  Defense Line should have feasted against backups but didn't do squat until the 4th Quarter. Secondary doesn't knock down passes or get picks. Blitzes aren't getting home. Offense doesn't seem to know how to react now that teams are watching for all the bootlegs. 30th ranked rush Defense (IIRC) bottled up the run game. They still throw 25 yard pass attempts on 3rd and short at least 3 times a game. Cousins was inaccurate.

Gonna need to continue to build that O-Line and find someone at some level of the Defense that can consistently make game-changing plays on Defense in the offseasons cuz I see 1 more year before the window closes.

10 days ago the issues were repeated today. Defense and oline.

Cousins had zero turnovers.

91 yard td run? Zimmer's defense isn't what it was.

KC missed a lot of throws today.   His stats are misleading.  Drives were killed.

An average team that won't make the playoffs. Rams and Seahawks are going to pass us for the wildcard spots.
The 4-game winning streak was just feasting on 3 teams that will all be drafting in the top 10, and a home win against another mediocre team.
I thought they had to win 3 of the first 4 games in the second half to have a shot to win the North and be a playoff force. They won't get a better opportunity against Dallas or Seattle than they had today. I think they will be 7-5 after the next 3.
As for Cousins: I don't think he sucked. But I think he demanded $84M because he knew he would have a lousy OL in Minnesota.
