David Morgan: Won't play this season

Morgan is scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery to address his knee injury.
Morgan
began the regular season on the PUP list with hope to take the field at
some point, but his recovery doesn't appear to have gone as planned.
He'll focus on getting healthy for 2020. In the meantime, Minnesota will
continue to roll with Kyle Rudolph, Irv Smith Jr. and Tyler Conklin at
tight end.

also,  there are other more pressing positions that could return from IR should the need arise.

Can you imagine where Floyd would be by now under Patterson?

Vikings TE David Morgan (knee, PUP) underwent another operation on Tuesday. He'll remain on the PUP list and miss the remainder of the season. Blocker Morgan has 16 career grabs since entering the league in 2016.

A lot of head scratching went down when the Vikings took Smith in the second round.

Fast forward 6 months and the Smith pick looks like a rather shrewd move.

I dont think many were shocked with a TE that early.   With Rudy's decline and the need to add a real playmaking TE.  With the 2 iowa studs it wouldn't have been shocking to see them take one in the first.
