Gruden is a blockhead
#1
Not THAT Gruden. Jay Gruden, Washington's coach.

He had Adrian Peterson INACTIVE yesterday (for the first time in AD's career) vs. Philly.
He started Derius Guice, a 2nd year RB who missed all of last season with a knee issue. I think torn ACL.
Washington got a huge lead, couldn't run the ball, couldn't kill the clock, and blew the game. And now apparently Guice has another knee injury.
Hmm, maybe when Guice was ineffective in the game it would've been nice to have a Hall of Famer to sub in? :p

Utter buffoonery. Sometimes when I get frustrated with Mike Zimmer, I remind myself things could always be worse.

Peterson is an I-back. His wheelhouse is 1st and 2nd down. His pass blocking is horrible. He's 34 years old and best days behind him.

I loved him as much as anyone as a Viking. A beast. But he's not that guy anymore.

They had a lead.  1st and 2nd down would have been perfect for him.

I don't give a rats ass about him anymore, but yeah, they probably could have used him.

His best days are definitely way behind him but like greed just said, they could've used him Sunday. And it's not some far-fetched scenario that the RB who missed all of last season might need a spell or a backup.
I also don't think he's nearly as washed as you're saying. We'll see the next few weeks I guess since it sounds like AD will be playing a lot.

Hopefully they play him a lot at the right time.
I can see them doing just like MN did, game plan for feeding AP often and early.

The best thing that happened in 2017, (in the win column) was Cook getting injured. Other wise Zim would have took the ball out of Cases hands.

I always said, if AP ego would have allowed it. He should not have touched the ball until the 2nd half.
He would have had 150 + yards games all the time

That's interesting. Did you catch any of the Rams game from Sunday by chance? They did almost exactly this with Gurley. He got most of his yards in the 2nd half and he looked great against an already tired defense.
McVay knows what he's doing, I'll be interested to see if that's how they continue to use TGIII or if he becomes more of a "workhorse" as the season goes on. Either way, even for guys getting "eased back in" after an injury, I can't recall seeing it be done mostly in the 2nd half.

Best days or not he had a 1000 yard season last year.

The NFL is so unpredictable. The only real consistency you see is with those few teams that have a franchise QB.

You do realize Dalvin had a record year going before that injury,  That being said imagine if we had that dynamic late in the season and would not have had to rely on Case late in the season.

Gruden is a block head,  but not because of inactivating AD (well kinda)  but because of the comments he made when asked about deactivating him... he was very snide in saying that if he needed to run out of an I set 55 times a game he would use him... kind of an ahole thing to say about one of your players who is headed to the HOF... especially considering Guices potential limitations.

however I am sure AD was offended immediately, but as long as his ego gets stroked soon it will be all forgiven.
