The Oakland Raiders will be the subjects of this year’s Hard Knocks.
The NFL announced today that the NFL Films cameras will be in the Raiders’ camp for the show, which will air on HBO beginning August 6.
No teams wanted to do Hard Knocks this year, but NFL rules allow the league to force a team to appear if that team hasn’t done the show in the last 10 years, hasn’t made the playoffs in the last two years and doesn’t have a first-year head coach. The Raiders fit all three of those criteria.
And the Raiders should be a TV-friendly team, with coach Jon Gruden, new arrivals including Antonio Brown and Vontaze Burfict and three first-round rookies. Gruden didn’t want to do it, but the cast of characters his team has assembled will get the up-close-and-personal treatment on reality television this summer.

The rules to having being able to avoid this show is exactly why I am ok with Zimmers track record.  Playoffs at least every other year....check!

Many of the younger sportswriters I follow on Twitter are like giddy over the Raiders being chosen. Its just not my thing, I guess. Reality TV I hate with a passion.

Chucky might feign displeasure but I'm not buying. That man is a camera whore to the extreme. He will probably try taking over production before It's done. Just to make sure they keep getting his good side ya know.

Oh and not that I needed a reason not to watch again but thanks anyhow for a doozy. Jiminy crickets the excitement level should be as high as him giving tires a pep talk.

Remember when HBO was movies,  MTV wss music,  and reality was what you got when you actually shut off your TV,  got off your ass, and went out and interacted with real people?
