What to expect in 2019
#1
May have to waste another year of viking football to expect changes in 2020.

The Vikings are basically fielding the same team from 2017/2018 only older and slower. Imagine only needing one victory on week 18 against the bears AT HOME to enter the playoffs and missing, then returning the same team in 2019. OUCH!

Improvement? Maybe Quarterback but not on the line, either side, combined with Zimmer's need to run the ball, but only between the tackles and only rushing four on defense that will need a Minneapolis Miracle to win a game, after being up by 14.

All other teams have improved. Unless the vikings have a second coming in the draft, and find a way to impeach high salary FUNKMARKELS,  (FunkMarkel, a player who has been around a lot of years, but still cannot get Better or do his job, BETTER, yet still gets paid very well,) this will be another long season.

A conservative approach to either side of the football and the Vikings will be picking earlier than 18 in 2020.

I think many Viking fans are underestimating the impact Sparano passing had and that Kubiak and crew coming will have on the team record.

That + some personnel group improvement on the OL should propel the team back to double-digit wins.

I'm still bullish that this group can compete for a SB title. But the clock is definitely ticking, especially in keeping this D together.

Loaded roster underperformed last year. Either you believe that there was a litany of factors like craptastic OC, Tony passing, no OGs that were League Average, Griff's breakdown, etc., or you think Zimmer can't coach and Cousins is overrated.

I'm not going to argue in either direction. What is inaeguable is that this roster outside of O-Line is very talented.

I am thinking there will be changes this year. It remains to see how effective they will be. I am interested to see how much impact Kubiak will have. I am kind of looking forward to seeing his influence on the draft too. I am interested to see Cousins with more time and experience. I wonder what differences will be added to the playbook.

I think there were a lot of things that played into underachieving last year.  But, I am hoping the new coaches get thru to Rick to pick OL first and foremost.  Too long that has been neglected and I do not think just coaching can fix it.  Need to use the draft to at least try and get a starter day one there.  If they neglect it again in the draft then I will be prepared for more of the same.

Two seasons ago, our defensive backfield was lights out phenomenal. Last season it seems like something was up with Rhodes playing so off...

I wonder if we go as far as our secondary takes us. Probably a little backwards than usual - where the pass rush makes the secondary look better - I think we need to make QBs hold the ball a bit longer and that we'll go as far as we can make that happen.

I expect to see a mediocre team.  Hopefully better than last season, but still in that 7-9 to 9-7 range.  Maybe squeak out 10-6 somehow, but I don't see it.  I just can't trust this next team being any better than the crap from last season without seeing it first.

Sign me up for 11+ wins crowd--kubiak and dennison getting a feel for the needs to make this line back to average or above rather than the dumpster fire that was the line last year. One or two new linemen to shore up the line.

It's good koolaid---drink deeply my purple friends

Why would you ever have one of the top notch man coverage players in the league play off coverage. It was Zimmer's ,in game calls. Less double A gap blitzes and more zone coverage. Zimmer built a defense that was excellent at man coverage and pressure, then played a lot more zone. I hope they get back to their strengths this year, because they are damn good at it. He has the players, he just needs to let them do what they are born to do.
If Joseph can hold his position at the line of scrimmage, and not be pushed backwards, this defense is as good as any other.
On the other hand, the offense, well we shall see. If they can run the ball, this could be much more than the 8-8 team they are now.

Those who saw us getting to the NFC Championship game two years ago take one step forward.
