I've thought about looking into BDIY home protection.

Yes, girlfriend's 5lbs Maltese...dog freaks out at any noise, like the ice cube maker, and barks like the world is ending...which then activates my 80lbs Boxer to join in...no one is getting in here undetected...

I've got Ring, its great. Absolutely love it. I don't really consider it a full home security system, but its great for what it is.

Look into z-wave on amazon. It is kind of a wifi based system, but basically you get a hub and then all the components you need for your house, from cameras to window and door sensors, alarms, motion sensors ect. Z-wave is the technology not a company but from a DIY standpoint - no wires to run is the big key, just have to replace batteries.

my 115# Lab/pyranese cross and 9mm semi auto with and 18 round clip with my 12GA pump as back up. we also have game cameras all over the place, but they arent really a proactive device.
