Well...

They can't take away the miracle... Right?

Man, really thought we were gonna win this one (lot of game left, I know). This was/is the barometer game for me. At this point it's feeling more and more like a "there's always next year" type of season.

Too many bumps in the road to overcome.
  1. Tony Sparano
  2. Everson Griffen
  3. God knows what at the oline
  4. I know I'm missing a few others
Not claiming to be an uber knowledgeable football mind. Just speaking my gut feel.

The play calling is pissing me off so much right now. Quit running on every 1st down.

The AT fumble before the half changed everything.  Cousins hasn't done shit the entire 2nd half.  He looks like crap even without that stupid pick 6.

One more to add...

Daniel Carlson, yes I know if Crosby makes his kick we're 4-3 about to go to 4-4 tonight. BUT, if Carlson makes his kicks, it's very likely we're 5-2 about to go to 5-3 (all things being equal).

Well the lone bright spot was Adam got his 100. Nice accomplishment.
For the game or the year. I'm growing tired of Zimmer ball. Last season we had alot go right. We had a QB that was making plays that were way over his ability. The defense stayed healthy and things were good. If you study Zimmer's history now as a coach. 1st year lose your best offensive weapon. Need to start a rookie QB for most the year 7-9. 1st year maybe it shouldn't count.  Next year league leading rusher healthy defense things relatively calm 11-5. Then all kinds of problems. A coach quits during the season 8-8 drama filled year. Then last year as I said. Things were good. You see a pattern? Great coaches are able to be competitive in the bad times. When things aren't going good... Thats a Zimmer team it's drama and losing.  We'll see how the season plays out. He's not what I've hoped he would be at this point. Win every other year. That's Sam Wyche that's Lovie Smith that's not what great coaches do.

Actually that's just the history of the Vikings. No matter who is coaching, for a long time now, they have rarely had two good seasons back to back. They are the Vikings! I expected them to lose tonight. But I expect they will still have a chance to win the NFC North. We shall see. But having high expectations for the Vikings has always been fools gold. I don't think this is the year that is going to change.

Not really our history missing the playoffs. The past couple decades yes. Denny got us in most years. Since we got rid of Denny we've had one back to back. Bud did it, even Jerry Burns and Childress did it. Zimmer has to prove he's at least in that company. He's a long way from Denny and not even in the same zip code as Bud. Not all our history is so bleak other then never winning the SB. Well you have to be in the tournament to have that chance.
I don't disagree that the product has not lived up to the expectations. Winning the North has to be the new goal. That will likely be our ceiling this year. That would be something at least.

Sorry, but when you spend as much money on defense (in an increasingly offensive-minded league) and GUARANTEE $84 MILLION to a QB for 3 years, MAKING the playoffs is EXPECTED, and a minimal expectation, I might add.

WINNING MULTIPLE PLAYOFF GAMES is what SHOULD be the expectation for Vikings fans.

Who cares whether you make the playoffs as a division "champion" or as a wildcard? The Vikings have a documented history the past 5 decades of shittng the bed regardless of being at home or on the road in the playoffs.

Excuses are no longer acceptable to me. Times up. This team needs to either make it to a SB or win at LEAST 2 playoff games (something they have not accomplished since the 1987 team). If not, Schpielman and Zimmer need to GO.  End of story.

Peace

I don't get the meaning of this.  Over 5 decades, so we are talking about teams with different players, coaches, GMs, and owners, and in different stadiums, both indoors and outdoors. So what is the common thread? The helmet? The horn? the name? the colors? the fans? the city?
In order to win the Super Bowl, what should we change? Change coaches and GM?  Hasn't that been done numerous times over the past 5 decades?  What does a Bud Grant team losing a SB, or a Denny Green team losing an NFCCG, or Brad Childress losing an NFCCG - what does that have to do with Zimmer and Spielman?

I remember getting laughed at saying 10-6 would be fantastic.

If we can make it to 8-7-1 itll be a good finish.
