Packers dealing with costly penalties in tie with Vikings

McCarthy said the Packers, who were flagged for only one roughing-the-passer penalty all of last season, have talked about how the plays are being officiated and are trying to adjust accordingly.

For the team that has benefitted the most and cried the most all offseason about the "Aaron Rule" I find this so satisfying).

Here's for crybaby Clay:  NFL says STFU

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The NFL doubled down on Clay Matthews' much-debated roughing-the-passer penalty and said Monday that not only was it the correct call, but it will be used on a teaching tape sent to teams.
The Green Bay Packers linebacker was penalized in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 29-29 tie with the Minnesota Vikings for what referee Tony Corrente said was a foul because "he lifted [Kirk Cousins] and drove him into the ground." The penalty wiped out a potential game-clinching interception in the final minutes of regulation

Clay has always roughed the passer, last week he ran over Turbisky late for no reason and this week decided to body slam Kirk at the end. Yeah Kirk's may not have been too bad, but was it necessary on the potentially final drive? No, especially after what happened to Kendricks on a similar hit earlier. Clay is a douche and now that it is coming down on him it feels SOOOO good.

Matthews claims he doesn't know what to do with this new rule.  Here's a hint Clay, "PLAY WITHIN THE RULES."  Probably all too new to him...

I agree with everything you said- except the part about slamming Cousins.  Unless you're talking about a different play (other than the so-called "roughing the passer" play), I don't think he did anything wrong on his sack of Cousins.  It was about as text-book as it can get these days.  On the other hand, none of these penalties ought to be called.  If you don't want your passer to get hurt, draft better OL... or keep more players in to protect him.  If you send 5 receivers out into routes, that's the risk you're taking (leaving your QB with as little protection as possible).
If the teams- themselves- don't care about their own QBs, why should the NFL?

Exactly right. there is no rule saying you cant  line up 7 or 8 olineman.   I think that would be better than these excessive rules

Ok they were only flagged once all of last year for roughing the passer so we already know they are getting away with it. Green Bay can just stfu already. Maybe the butthurt whiner rule burning them is payback.

Lol
Quote:McCarthy said a holding penalty on guard Lane Taylor, which wiped out Jimmy Graham’s touchdown catch also bothered him. “Frankly, I was more upset about that call than Clay’s,” McCarthy said
So the arm around the throat and tackling the guy from behind isn't holding?  Dude is either a dipshit or so used to getting the benefit of the refs he doesn't understand the rules.
