Will join the coaching staff immediately.

It makes sense. My dad and I were talking how this needs to happen. He is on coaching staff and if an injury happens we have a guy that can come in immediately and know the defense and gameplan for any given week. He is essentially an extra roster spot.

It seemed inevitable. Congrats Terence.

I'm going to assume they offered him a coaching position he could take or be cut and try to find another team.

Congrats to Terence on a great career...a lot of veteran leadership just left the lockerroom with this decision and the release of BRob...I’m glad Terence is staying with the team at least, and he will still provide leadership as a coach, but I’m damn bummed about BRob

If somebody wouldn't mind chiming in... was he supposed to be a big asset this year? I thought he wasn't starting material anymore but definitely crucial for depth.

According to Tom Pelissero, by taking a job on the coaching staff, Newman is not allowed to come back and play this season. Had to be a hard decision, since he still could have played a role this season, but there were some young players like Hill that they didn't want to lose. At least Newman will still be there to work with the young DBs.

Classy move.  He knew his greatest attribute anymore was his melting these younger guys find their pro game.  Glad he accepted this rile gracefully and didn't just walk away from these younger guys that can grow so much more with his guidance.
