NFL Makes 20% Of Quality Control FTE
#1
Roger Goodell - C - Free AgentThe NFL announced they have hired full-time officials for the first time in the league's history.
"In an effort to improve consistency, efficiency and accuracy" of officiating, 24 of the league's 122 officials will become full-time. The new full-time referees will prepare for games, analyze current game trends, and assist in finding qualified future officials. This is an obvious step in the right direction to improve the quality of referees.Source: Pro Football Talk

A step, but a small step.  Only if it is followed by hiring the rest will it actually help.
