Doing it now gives him the best chance to catch on with another team. He was a very long shot to beat out Carlson anyway - so long as Carlson did not just crumble. And he hasn't.

New Job interview didn’t go well today either

As soon as Forbath missed that field goal I figured he was gone. The look he had on his face when they showed him looked like he thought the same thing.

I said it as soon as he missed it, but then when they sent Carlson out for the XP after the TD i pretty much assumed the decision was made. Kai was supposed to get the XP and FG satuday with Carlson just doing kickoffs and something changed that mid game.

I'm sure he saw the writting on the wall just after the draft this year. Good luck Kai. I sure think Kai was a nice, reliable upgrade over that guy he replaced.
Hope this Carlson kid can earn and live up to being "the guy".

I don't think he was surprised. He knew they drafted a guy and that guy had the leg up...so to say.
He didn't suck so he'll get a job before years end.

Pretty sure they were just looking for a reason to release him, and that 41 yard miss was it. You don't trade up and draft a kicker only to go with someone else. Carlson looks like a real weapon for us and it wouldn't surprise me if we saw a few more of those sky-ball kickoffs we almost recovered against the Jags.
