Cook and Murray to split carries
#1
Honestly, I think this is wise...It's not like Murray is some slouch.

According to Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Dalvin Cook and Latavius Murray could "split a good bit of the rushing load" this season.
Coach Mike Zimmer said it's "too early" to think about how carries will be distributed, though he said both will be "factors." Murray played well down the stretch last season and could work in tandem with Cook, who is coming off a torn ACL. Cook is still the back to own for fantasy purposes, though Murray's presence makes him a tough sell as an RB1.

And I'm fine with this mindset going into the season. Last year I thought DC was getting too many carries early on.

The reality is the words "going with the hot hand" will be sure to come from the coaches mouth probably more than once over a long 16 weeks.

That's smart. They both do different things well and are very valuable to the team.

Don't get this. Nothing that Murray does that Cook can't do or do better.

I'm not sure the thread title matches the spirit of Zimmer's comment...

Yeah, what does "split" even mean? Divide? But into even parts? Not necessarily. And if that's the case, we already knew that.

I think Zimmer's whole mindset this year is to get a better rotation for certain positions so they're not gassed come playoffs. I suspect that LM will get a bigger load than he did last year when Cook was in, but Cook will still be the workhorse.

I think Cook should get about 2/3 and Murray 1/3 in an undecided contest,  once the issue is settled then up Murrays load a bit and get the 3rd back into the mix and only use Cook situationally or not at all.  Save those legs for December and January.

As far as playing him today. I want them to and don't in the same thought.
I would like to see what he looks like under live fire. However maybe best if not. If they can wait I can.
