As the Vikings continue to lock up their core long-term, Everson Griffen will be signing a massive extension upon reporting to training camp. He is the first of 3 that are likely to be extended.

Also, two reasons why they're extending Griffen now.
1. None of his base salaries were guaranteed in either 2017/2018 making security a concern for him 2. The new deal will allow the Vikings to front load their cap space now to make an extension for Danielle Hunter much easer in the 2019 off-season

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Vikings are finalizing a four-year extension with Griffen which should allow him to finish his career there. The 29-year-old Griffen had two years left on his existing deal, and was set to make $6.9 million this year and $8.4 million in 2018. The former fourth-round pick has found his stride with the Vikings, with 30.5 sacks the last three seasons, including 8.0 last year. He’s also been incredibly durable, as he’s only missed one game over the last six seasons.

I don't know S about front office, cap space, etc. but it seems like the Vikes do a pretty good job of keeping the guys they want without sacrificing the future.
