If the Vikings win the superbowl
#1
Does that  elevate  Zimmer and cousins  to hall of fame  even if they  just  stay  at the average play or coaching  the rest of there  carers but never get a second ring

No.  Maybe Zimmer more than  Cousins but I still say no.  Although Zims resume and HC average is pretty good so far and that might be good enough with 1 ring and if Kirk averaged 4000 yd seasons for the next 8 years with a ring that might get it done as well.  I guess it depends on what you call average.  Are nick Foles and the philly coach HOF worthy based on last season,  imo no.

No and no. One win head coaches are not locks even if they have a good winning percentage. One win by a QB only means they were at the right place at the right time in some cases. The HOF shouldn't even be about Super Bowls but we know different.

It will elevate them to the top of the list for the state's sports heroes.

HOF - maybe.    Best viking QB/Coach - yes.   The SB win trumps all.

If so, that would mean Bud Grant doesn't belong in the hall.

Not sure how you come to that conclusion

If escalating someone to the hall only because they coached a team that had never won one, then the previous coaches don't deserve consideration.
I believe Zimmer is the right coach for us. I don't think anyone could have done better with what we had. But, even if we win the superbowl this season, he isn't in the conversations yet for the hall.

with coaches as well as players I think body of work has to be the primary consideration.  Zimmer has been a dominant defensive coach almost his entire career.  granted he has had good players to work with,  but he brings out some greatness in his players through his schemes.  I think he is more deserving of HOF mention for his defensive contributions to the game more than what 1 superbowl win as a HC would add to the scales in his favor.
