Surprise players?

There will be a lot of continuity on the Vikings roster, but Zimmer is excited about the play of some young players in their second and third seasons and some newcomers.
He was asked if any rookie free agents impressed during workouts.
“A couple I have liked, Don Beebe’s son [wide receiver Chad Beebe] has looked really good,” Zimmer said. “Holton Hill, the corner from Texas, was a college free agent, and I really like him.”
When it comes to returning players, Zimmer singled out Laquon Treadwell.

Zimmer said that first-round draft pick Mike Hughes already has shown great aptitude playing as a slot defensive back in nickel packages.
“He has come in here and done a nice job,” he said. “Probably the best corner that we have drafted that has been able to move inside to nickel and understand concepts.”

Until the roster is cut to 53 and weve seen these guys in live action it's really all just words.  Every year we will have the guys that finally turn the corner or the surprise rookies,  and when the season starts most of them are not on the roster or fill the same role they had in the past.  I hope we have some great emerging gems,  but not holding my breath.

I am holding my breath on Treadwell. I dont know if Zimmer is just trying to build his self esteem, but it sure is sounding like he might be turning a corner.

Speaking of corners, that's high praise from Zimm. That Hughes kid might become a real asset to an already strong unit.

Interesting that Remmers is no longer switching between guard and tackle. He is now the right guard and Hill is the right tackle. I think this makes a LOT more sense and you could pretty much tell by how they drafted that this was the direction they wanted to go in.

I am really hoping to see Anthony Harris step up even more and pushe Sendejo.  I am also hoping to see Isidora take the next step at G. And finally Tashawn Bower. He is a Hunter clone. Hopefully he makes the leap

Yea it sure looks like were were leaning strongly to get Remmers at Guard and then draft a RT.  O'Neill was only the 3rd Tackle drafted after McGlinchey (9) and Kolton Miller (15).  I was in the Wynn camp who is a tweener G/OT but the Patriots grabbed him well before us and we didn't have the ammo to move up anyway.  The Hughes pick now makes even more sense (I predicted we take a CB anyway) knowing that we weren't looking at Guards like Hernandez.  

Let's hope the either Hill or O'Neill step up for us at RT.  Key position to watch throughout preseason.

Watch the tape on Hill for the last two games of the season and tell me you feel comfortable with him as our starting right tackle? He was terrible. Can he improve with a full offseason and build some continuity with the rest of the line, sure, but I have seen nothing from him to indicate he can handle the speed and power of the elite pass rushers that we will face this year with a very difficult schedule. If he is the best we can do at RT, I have major concerns about our line.

Agree, improvement needed from Hill.  No one has been more critical of him after watching the Saints game multiple times and then the Eagles debacle.  He was awful in both games.

That said the coaching staff must have seen enough to think he could start.  He needs a solid camp or O'Neill needs to not be the project he has been projected to be.  O'Neill has the build for more of a LT but they plan on starting him out at RT from all that I can gather from comments.  

Overall, agree that the RT is the key position to watch this preseason.  Might be the biggest ? on the whole team!

I dont think there's any question RT is the biggest question mark on the team...Then we have to hope for Elflein and Cook to both come back 100% too.
