Spielman said that while Stefon Diggs, Anthony Barr and Danielle Hunter haven’t been signed to extensions, he said there’s still a good chance those extensions will get done closer to training camp.
“We’ve continued to talk with their agents and that process will probably continue through the summer,” Spielman said. “We have been able in the past to get some of these contracts done right around training camp. … So we’ll continue to work hard to try and see if we can get some of these guys under contract and extended.”
In addition to the big-name free agents to join this offseason such as Cousins and Richardson, Spielman said the team focused on college free agents as well. The Vikings have had much success in signing undrafted players in the past.

“We really tried to be more aggressive in college free agency after the draft and tried to hone in on guys that we have spent time with, a couple of those guys actually came here … as part of the recruiting process,” he said. “I think by continuing to add young talented guys and continuing to add as much competition as you can, it makes everybody rise to the occasion.
I like the Viking's plan and their process, its very good. Couple that with world class facilities now and a (hopefully) solid QB and its an attractive place to come if you are a player.
I think we all have sensed a change in the last two years. Rick is getting more comfortable with stepping outside of his self-defined box, and with those internal relationships, seem to be willing to explore more non-traditional or explosive(?) signings, that would not have been thinkable a decade ago.
I like what the team has done. I wouldn't be unhappy if suddenly a veteran guard became available closer to the start of the season. If they could land one for depth or leadership it would relieve us of hoping a young guy can step up. The front loaded part of our season is a bit troublesome. However they have put us together a pretty good team for this year. Can't wait for it to be on the field and not just on paper.

Another OL, sure...but does anyone else feel nervous about our RB depth? Mack Brown and CJ Ham are scrubs, but all we have behind Cook and Murray. I don't even need to cite Cook's injury or the one that kept Murray inactive at the beginning of last season: players get hurt, RBs maybe more frequently than any other position. I'm not saying we should sign Alfred Morris, but we better be attentive if/when someone decent gets cut by another team in TC.

Yes I am. I was surprised they didn't draft one. I raised this point myself before and Brown name was mentioned. I think they are putting alot of eggs in Cook's basket. Murray is a tuff runner but our offense will suffer if he's the primary back...imo. Ham does have a role With the team, be it limited. I'm concerned by RB depth.

Not necessarily nervous, but it's something we should be looking at this summer. 3rd RB is probably the easiest position in the NFL to fill off the street (post cuts) if none of Boone, Thomas or Brown shows anything.

I agree finding a running back is much easier the finding a serviceable guard. I remember when in the day we pulled a Leroy Hoard off the couch and had a decent result. That was running behind a good oline. Wouldn't get that result with this bunch. Well can't fill them all. We will have holes. I'm ok if one of these young guys steps up for that 3rd back. Then pray we never need to go that deep.

But it's almost a situation where, if your good RB does get hurt, you want it to happen earlier, like beginning of TC. When Peterson was suspended a few years ago, it was week 2 and good backs were off the market. Right now, we could sign DeMarco Murray, Alfred Morris, Eddie Lacy, or...um...Adrian Peterson. All 4 are probably waiting for RB injuries to happen.
