The defensive end, who was scheduled to earn up to $3.5 million in 2018, will instead play for a base salary of $1.015 million, along with a $90,000 workout bonus

That is a big cut. Robison and Newman: our two old vets have come back for a ring.

We knew there was a cut but I was guessing 1.5 or 1.75.   Pops said that no one would be questioning his loyalty after the details came out, I would say he is right.  there is an aspect where I know Brian has made more than I could ever dream of, but in the same breath and looking at the rest of the contracts thinking couldn't they just have agreed to a mil or less on some of the other contracts.

Big cut for sure. One more shot at the ring. I would guess Brian will be in a more rotational aspect than he's ever been. I know the Vikes like Stephen Weatherly.

It is good to know it is settled and great to know that Brian will be in purple another year.  Lets hope he stays healthy and has an amazing season ending with a big, gaudy ring.

Hey, just being realistic...if someone were to pay me over a million bucks a year just to keep doing what I'd probably want to do for work...for free...damn straight I'd do it.  Kudos for BRob to ride off into the sunset on a white horse.  Classy in a tough business.

Robison, who’s been with the Vikings since he was drafted in 2007, replied to a few fans on Twitter last week saying the extra money wasn’t worth him leaving what he had in Minnesota. After restructuring his contract for the first time last year, Robison said he intended to retire after playing out the final year of his deal in 2018. It remains to be seen whether he’d consider returning in 2019, either on a new deal with the Vikings or another team.
But if 2018 is the final year in Minnesota for the popular player, it will grant him a season in the team’s new practice facility and one more chance to chase a Super Bowl ring with the Vikings. Few players were more outspoken about what the team’s 2017 playoff run meant to them than Robison, who hadn’t played in the NFC Championship Game since 2009. And after the Vikings’ 38-7 loss to the Eagles, few players were more visibly upset in the postgame locker room than the typically affable Robison.
He’ll get the chance to rewrite the ending to his career in Minnesota, albeit at a reduced salary. That tradeoff, Robison decided, was worth it.

I really hope this is true, but is it? They didn't like Weatherly enough to use him much late last year when Griffen was hurting.
Another big question regarding Robison's playing time has to do with the DT rotation. He has had a lot of snaps reducing inside, but with Sheldon Richardson hopefully providing pressure from 3T, and Jalyn Holmes and/or Jaleel Johnson potentially playing as well, there may be far fewer opportunities there.

Let's just not send another amazing Vikings lifer into the sunset without giving them a ring to take with, please!

Wonder if a player has ever been crowdfunded, that would set a precedence.  Better money spent than political donations.
