The intangible. MVP
#1
The 2018 season will be a very unusual one. People will see things that they have never seen before. It has already begun ,yet people are oblivious to it. The Vikings will play a key role in this. Truth is stranger than fiction

Isn't is strange that the Vikings drafted a kicker in the 5th round? A kicker? A kicker with a leg.  Daniel Carlson will win the job as kicker. More important, he will handle the job of the kick off, if it still exits in the years to come. Even more important, look for Carlson to handle the job of punting. Yes, punting.  Quigley was useful, but not necessary. Carlson handling the punting duties opens up another roster spot for the Vikings. HUGE. A double win!

Now, the most important thing, the red zone. With a 6'5" kicker sitting on the sidelines and a 6'2" bust 1st round receiver here is another chance to open a roster spot. Look for Carlson to be a red zone specialist. His  6-5 on a 5-9 corner will be an exploit that  Defilippo will use every time. In the red zone the Vikings will always end up with 7 instead of the 3 we have grown so accustomed to.

Handling all the kicking duties, a red zone specialist, opening up 2 roster spots will earn Carlson MVP of the 2108 season. Sorry, Kirk "kissing" Cousins.

hey Maybe he can play RT!
He can actually punt?  wow.   Of course we wont need a punter all season since we got rid of that bum and got Cousins.

It is odd that there are no kickers who also punt. It's also odd that there are no centers who also long snap.

I've often wondered the same thing myself.  how hard would it be to specialize in both?  every third day work on the different type of kick... .kick off,  punt, EP/field goal,  KO, Punt, EP/FG....day off!

I know.  It isn't like the QBs do multiple things like hand off and throw passes.
