Our church had a benefit last night for a family that had all 4 of their kids in a school-van accident (about 6 weeks ago). Among the items up for bid in our silent auction was a signed mini-helmet by BRob (was out of my price range by the time the bidding had stopped- but THANKS TO BROB for providing that!)... and a signed Joe Mauer bat (which was also out of my price range by the time it was all said and done). Thankfully I was able to put the winning bid on a signed lithograph of a painting by Les Kouba... and Bud Grant. I now have a signed Bud Grant painting to hang in my office. Cool...
Too cool pumpf...your office is now a man cave and it just got manlier.
Good for you. How much did the helmet and up going for? I would have loved to have been able to bid on it. I don't go crazy on that stuff yet, but by this time next year both my kids will done with college so no more books, tuition, dorms, and meal plans to pay for so I will be able to be that guy that everybody shakes their head at and wonders why they would pay so much for that. :#

I think the helmet went for less than $100. The Mauer bat went for $160.

Crap I would have paid double than that for either of them. Especially considering the cause.
Beware of Counterfeits !

Well, the girl who "won" the bid for the Mauer bat is a special needs girl who REALLY loves the Twins. If I had "won" the bid, it would've been with an eye towards selling it "someday". She, on the other hand, will cherish it forever. I'm sure that her kids will inherit it someday.
As for the helmet, the guy who won it was related to the family that was involved in the accident; so, I guess I don't feel too badly about him getting it.
Now, about this painting that I got. What'll you give me for it... :p
